From the Bible, Don shares with you those principles God honors in providing for your needs. So now, let's join Don as he opens his heart to you with keys to financial provisions. Thank you, Mike O'Dell. I'm concerned today about you that are in financial strife and financial difficulties.
[00:00:29] I say strife, often family financial difficulties leads to a lot of strife and God wants to give liberation. I received a letter from a man who is a father and a family provider and he wanted to know from me, my heart, how I could be instrumental to influence him to see the provision for all of his family. He said,
[00:00:54] Brother Don, I know you're the father of five children. I know that you've been in the ministry all these years and you've been on radio all over the world and gone through many crusades and I know that you know a lot about financial struggles and challenges. So would you please help me? And I wrote this man, As a father and the provider for your family, I know how your honest spirit responds to such challenging words as 1 Timothy 5.8.
[00:01:21] But if any man provide not for his own and especially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith and is worse than an infidel. I recall for the first 11 years, I was the provider for the Don Gossett family. I experienced continual financial hardships and difficulties. And being the happy father of five children by the time I was 28 years old,
[00:01:46] well, my problems were compounded, of course, for there were unrelenting financial requirements and inability to meet my commitments on time produced embarrassment. Often, those unexpected expenditures labeled emergency, drained my resources and kept my back up against the wall. But then there came that experience when God visited my life in a special way. My wife and my family and I were living in the beautiful island city of Victoria.
[00:02:16] Our financial situation was so deplorable, however, that it was hardly a pleasant experience because of the continual stress of unmet bills to be met. And well, it was a challenging time. But then something happened that month that changed my life in the matter of financial matters.
[00:02:35] What did happen after those 11 years of defeats and nearly despair in the financial arena of my life is how God ministered to me and showed me how that I could trust him to meet every need for my family. And that was a family matter. But then the same principles I employed for our radio ministry around the world and for the outreach to the nations where God sent me to 56 nations.
[00:03:02] But let me just back up a bit and tell you what happened that night. It was an all night prayer meeting that began to change things for us. And as I concluded that night of prayer, I was confident that our needs would always be met from that night onward. And I can say gratefully and I can say praise the Lord a thousand times that those needs have always been met.
[00:03:25] Now, I consider the Lord gave me a secret of faith for family finances that has never failed. He gave me to write down my never again list as the foundation for a total change in my life and particularly about our financial problems. Point number two in this never again list.
[00:03:47] Never again will I confess the domination of lack over my life for my God shall supply all my need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. That's Philippians 4:19. The Lord revealed to me how I had limited him in ministering to my needs because I constantly talked about my lack of money, my unpaid bills.
[00:04:11] My continual testimony was there's just not enough, not enough money to provide for my family adequately. And then the Lord asked me a question from Amos 3 3. How can two walk together except they be agreed? I couldn't walk with God in financial supply if I disagree with his word. How was I disagreeing with him?
[00:04:34] By speaking continually about my lack, my difficulty in paying my bills and providing for my family. I was not agreeing with God. I was rather agreeing with the adversary who was keeping his oppressive hands on my finances. But I learned that I could rise up and overcome the devil like Jesus did on the Mount of Temptation. He quoted the word of God at the devil.
[00:05:01] And the Bible says after Jesus did that three times speaking those words, that then the devil leave with him. And I believe as I began to speak the living word of God, they were the source of great victory. And I would never again be victimized by lack of money for my family. Now, there are principles I've learned that simply is God's word. Now, of course, God also honors hard, diligent work.
[00:05:29] Labor is usually God's way to meet needs. Often God has met my needs by, for instance, my writings years ago when I was a young father. Now, writing is hard work. Sitting up all night on a train to deliver a manuscript to a publisher in a distant city was also tedious. But even more rewarding than the financial returns were the fact that thousands of lives have been transformed
[00:05:55] by the words that God led me to put down as I've written under the inspiration and leadership of the Holy Spirit. So it's not just work, but it's also faith for the provision of financial needs. Your faith is detectable by your words. Listen to 2 Corinthians 4, 13. We then also having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed and therefore have I spoken.
[00:06:23] We also believe and therefore do we speak. Faith is released or expressed by your words, by your mouth. You speak your faith. That's what the scripture here says, that it's the word that you speak. He said, therefore have I spoken. And that's what we speak. And I began to speak it. It wasn't just a magic formula. It was the mighty truth of God's holy word prevailing over my lack situations.
[00:06:53] I would affirm it. My God shall supply all my need. Now I consider those are seven words that will put you over even as they put me over in the financial situations. For the Bible says God absolutely watches over his word to perform it. And there's no doubt about it. As you say what God says, I've written a book called What You Say Is What You Get.
[00:07:19] And I learned that this truth will be very efficacious. Jesus said in Mark 11 23, Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea, And shall not doubt in his heart, But shall believe that whatsoever he says shall come to pass, He shall have whatsoever he saith. Now if you continually speak of your lack of money,
[00:07:47] If you talk about how hard things are going for you, Well you'll get what you say. And I urge you to speak often these words, I have faithful finances for my family. Thank you Father for your riches now. Now that's just an example of what you can say. You can personalize it to your own circumstance. And I've learned a second factor. I'll tell you more about that later. How that I learned to the open palms to the Father.
[00:08:15] As I would open my palms up to him in anticipation of his provision, I was reaching out to the Father and receiving from him. So I want to assure you, You that are fathers, You that are single mothers even, You that are responsible for the resources for the provision of your family. Here are principles that I personally have put into practice, And for all these years,
[00:08:43] God has honored that simple action. There has never been a time again where my family was not provided for. There was never those defeat circumstances where I was facing eviction from a home, Or the losing of an automobile, Or some other catastrophe that would come upon my life in the early years. I learned to let God's word prevail. Acts 19, 20 says, So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.
[00:09:10] And now I want to pray for you that are in financial difficulties. You that lack seems to be your master. Let's agree together. Heavenly Father, as humbly as I know how, I come to you to say I am thankful that you visited my life by your word and by your Holy Spirit. And you gave me the insight how I could always be assured of the provision of every need for my family.
[00:09:37] And Father, I'm grateful that this happened in reality. And I pray it will happen for others who are listening to this program today. Father, you see those who are vexed by deep financial problems. Those who have the testimony, It's not enough. There's not enough. May this complex be overcome as they begin to speak your word, Lord. I thank you for this truth today. And so we affirm it.
[00:10:05] Never again will I confess the domination of lack over my life. For my Father God shall supply all my need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Well, I'm sharing with you keys to financial provision, keys to financial blessing that I have personally had the opportunity to experience.
[00:10:29] And the same God who has spoken his word to my heart is the God who's concerned about you. Now, I'll share with you other principles other than the speaking forth principle, though that's so dynamic, that I hope you'll just open your heart to the possibility you can rise above the negative circumstances that kept you strapped financially, living from paycheck to paycheck, and enable you to be an overcomer in this arena.
[00:10:58] The Bible says in Romans 8, 37, In all these things we are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us. You are more than a conqueror through Christ. And thank God you can affirm that in God's provision. I'm sure will be yours. So from depression and gloom to the provision of your needs, let's begin to speak it, that I'm more than a conqueror through Christ who loves me. And that means in every area of your life you can be more than a conqueror.
[00:11:28] And now as I come down to the action point of this broadcast, when I invite you to join me in a simple action of adoration to our wonderful Lord. He alone is worthy of our praise. It's not our victory by our own bootstraps who lifted ourselves. It's by God's mercy, God's grace that we have his provision. So open your hearts and join me as we praise him together.
