[00:00:28] He quoted from Luke 11 41, A striking statement, But give for alms those things which are within. In other words, Jesus wanted them to give the needy world something they had experienced themselves. The same thought is brought out when the disciples asked Jesus what he was going to do to feed the multitudes. Afterwards, you remember, he fed the 5,000 with his little handful of bread and two fishes
[00:00:55] and thus performed one of the most gracious miracles of his wonder life. Now Jesus is saying to them, Feed ye them out of your own inner life. Bring the choice experiences you've had with the Father and give them to the people. Now there's a law in teaching. I cannot lift my people beyond my own experience. I cannot feed them beyond what I myself have experienced or the good word of God.
[00:01:22] The measure of my helpfulness is the measure of my own life in Christ. If I've had deep experiences in the Lord, if I put to the test the great statements or facts in the epistles and found that they stood the test, then out of the fullness of experience that comes from these testing periods, I feed the people. I've given them the real food of God. I've experienced the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and I can tell them about it.
[00:01:50] And their hungry hearts then will turn to the same scriptures, and they will learn to drink at the same well, feast on the same manner, and fellowship the same Christ. But if the thing I'm sharing is only a theory with me, if instead of faith I have had simply mental assent, then my teaching lacks the vital element which a true experience gives. So just now God is saying to you who hear my voice today,
[00:02:16] give alms the blessings you have yourself enjoyed. Tell people about the blessings you've received while seated at the feet of Jesus and studying his word. Tell them, of course, of your answers to prayers, to encourage them to have faith in the same God. You can say like David did in Psalm 116, I love the Lord because he's heard my voice, because he's inclined his ear to me, and heard my cry,
[00:02:44] therefore will I call upon him as long as I live. So tell people how your heart is burned within you, as you've walked and talked with the Master, and as you have poured over the word, as you've lingered in prayer before him. You see, a theory in the spiritual life is about the driest, deadest thing that you ever tried to feed to a people. So I would not have you give theories. Just tell people what Jesus is to you. You say, well, he just isn't much to me.
[00:03:13] Well, go alone and tell him about it. Tell him how heart hungry you are. Tell him how unsatisfied is your life, and he'll meet that cry. That's his delight and joy. Oh, it's a crime for us to be powerless when people need our help so badly. It's a crime for us to be unable to feed the waiting ones who look to us for help. The Bible commands, Let the word of Christ dwell on you richly. Yes, yield utterly to the sway of the word by the Holy Spirit.
[00:03:43] Then allow the Holy Spirit to take the things of Jesus and work them into your life. By and by, people will see Jesus in you. They'll feel him in your voice and your hand clasp, and you'll be able to feed them from the inner heart experiences you've had with Jesus Christ. So I share with you on this wonderful truth of giving from within. Now, here in Luke 11 41, what a striking translation of the words of Jesus to his disciples,
[00:04:13] give for alms those things that were within. In other words, Jesus wanted them to give to the needy world something they had experienced themselves. And when I speak on healing, for instance, there's something I have experienced personally. I can never forget how graciously the Lord Jesus Christ healed me of violent headaches back in 1976. And by the grace of God, I say only by his pure grace,
[00:04:38] I've never had a headache since that time in 1975 and 76 when I went through that episode of violent headaches. I would be the most surprised person if ever I had a headache again. So I speak to you that suffer with headaches today. I want to give you a positive word of assurance. The Bible declares that God has no respect to your persons, and he surely desires your healing of headaches even as he healed me so many years ago.
[00:05:08] So this is a valuable law in teaching. I cannot lift you beyond my own experience. I cannot feed you beyond what I myself have experienced of the good word of God. So to relate to you these steps I took to receive from the Lord under the searchlight of God's Holy Spirit at that time. I felt the Holy Spirit put his searchlight right upon my own heart.
[00:05:34] And I became aware that I had grieved the Holy Spirit of God by a spirit of pride or what we call self-sufficiency. And I repented before the Lord. I asked his forgiveness. I realized I had grieved the Holy Spirit by giving place to a stubborn spirit of pride. And the Lord grishes me and cleansed me from that. Well, that's what he promises to do in 1 John 1-9.
[00:06:00] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. And then I can never forget how that after I knew the Lord had revealed to me what my problem was, that the spirit of pride was standing between him and me, and then that he had forgiven me for giving place to that spirit. It was then that I began to praise him with a grateful heart,
[00:06:26] that he had graciously revealed to me what the hindrance to my receiving healing had been. And then I began to quote his healing promises, those wonderful truths of the Bible that reveal God's promise to heal you and me. And then quite supernaturally, the Lord healed me totally of those headaches back in 1976, never to plague my life again. And when Jesus commanded, give those things which are from within,
[00:06:56] the measure of my helpfulness to you that are afflicted with migraines and other kinds of headaches is the measure of my own life in Christ Jesus. So the Lord wants me to give you something I have experienced myself. And I believe the Lord would have me pause right here and pray a prayer of faith that the Bible declares will heal the sick. Now it may assist you as we have this prayer of faith to turn your faith loose by placing your hand on your radio.
[00:07:25] So let's agree in prayer for your healing of headaches in the name of Jesus. Lord, I've shared the sweet testimony of how you miraculously heal me of headaches so long ago back in 1976. And for these decades that have followed, you have kept me free from headaches and I give you thanks for this. And now I pray for every listening friend who is today afflicted with headaches.
[00:07:51] I ask in Jesus name for their healing, their deliverance, Lord. And if there's any hindrance in their own lives that are preventing them from the manifestation of healing being brought to their lives, that they will allow your Holy Spirit to reveal those things. That they'll not grieve the Holy Spirit, but yield to him today in Jesus name. I thank you, Lord, that by your stripes, healing of headaches for each person agreeing with me now. Amen and amen. Amen.
[00:08:21] Well, praise God. What a delight it is to have faith in God. Remember, when the disciples asked Jesus what he was going to do to feed the multitudes, Jesus said, feed ye them. When the disciples protested they had nothing to give them, Jesus then fed the 5,000 with a little handful of bread and two fishes and performed one of the most gracious miracles of his wonder life. What the Lord wants you to give to others out of your own inner life,
[00:08:50] bringing the choice experiences you've had with the Father and give them to people. Again, I repeat, there is a law in giving. You cannot lift people beyond your own experience. You cannot feed them beyond what you have experienced or the good word of God. And if you've had experiences in the Lord, if you have put to the test the great statements in the epistles and found they stood the test, then now the fullness of your experience that comes from those testing periods you can feed people.
[00:09:20] You can give them the real food of God. For you personally have experienced the word of God and the powers of the age to come and you can tell about it. The hungry hearts that you will encounter will then turn to the same scriptures and they'll learn to drink at the same well, feast on the same manna, and fellowship the same Christ. But again, I repeat, if the thing that you are sharing is only a theory with you,
[00:09:45] then your teaching lacks a vital element which is true a Christian experience would give. And I've had the joy, the immense joy of being an instrument in the Lord's hand to be used by him to win all my family to salvation. I embraced Acts 16 31, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved in thy house. In sincerity and simplicity, just as a 18-year-old young man, I acted on this promise of Acts 16 31
[00:10:15] and experienced the joys of seeing my parents come to receive Christ. And then, immediately after that, the rest of my immediate family were born again, saved by the grace of God. And I praise the Lord for this. So I'm telling you of the blessings I have received while seated at the feet of Jesus and studying his word. My heart burned within me as I walked and talked with the Master, as I poured over his word, as I lingered in prayer before him.
[00:10:44] He gave me those directives that I followed. And the Lord did the wondrous grace miracles. He saved my entire family. Praise the Lord again. So I want to agree with you today that have loved ones that are unsaved, that the same God who many years ago brought salvation to all my family will do the same for your loved ones. Father, I thank you that you so love the world that you gave Jesus to become our Savior.
[00:11:10] And Jesus, I thank you that you said that you came not to condemn, but you came to save. And I pray for the members of every household that is represented right now before your throne of grace. I ask, Lord, in Jesus' name that you'll do awesome work and cause people to see the folly of going on in sin. I pray you'll deal with these brothers and sisters, these fathers and mothers, these sons and daughters, Lord, that you'll cause them to see their need of Jesus.
[00:11:40] And Lord, you said believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved and also your house. So I agree for household salvation. Even, Lord, as you were pleased to bring that to pass for my family years ago, may this wondrous action of grace be manifest for every life. And I thank you in Jesus' name. Amen. Well, praise the Lord. I anticipate hearing from you that the Lord has answered this prayer
[00:12:09] and you, by his grace, are being used by him to influence your family for Christ. Have your heart open what he'd have you to do to be an instrument in his hand to help win your family to Christ. I know he'll do it. And he's ready and willing to seek and to save the lost. [00:12:39] So let's together honor this precious Lord. The Bible mentions so many things about him that he's the captain of our salvation. He's our Christ.
