[00:00:00] We want you to experience God's power as we share with you some wonderful testimony about

[00:00:07] Dr. E.W. Kenyon, a man of God who the Lord mightily used and what an influence and blessing he has been to my personal life.

[00:00:16] And God wants you to embrace these principles of truth that you can experience his power in your life,

[00:00:23] that you can see the Lord use you to lead the lost to Christ,

[00:00:28] that you can minister in God's anointing. And now I want to share with you a word from his own darling

[00:00:35] daughter Ruth. Ruth was the one who carried on his ministry after he went to heaven and for many years

[00:00:42] she was a very faithful laborer and then some years ago she received a call to heaven and left the work

[00:00:49] in the hands of very capable people who have kept the word going very powerfully all over the world.

[00:00:56] So I share about the this wonderful reaction to Ruth Kenyon, how that she was personally

[00:01:05] shared about how her father had impacted the lives of people. And then she, well let me just share it

[00:01:12] with you. I have it right here before me. Ruth Kenyon wrote, my dad was born in Saratoga County, New York,

[00:01:19] the fourth son of a family of 10. When he was in his teens, he moved with a family to Amsterdam,

[00:01:27] New York and the Mohawk Valley. He grew up in Amsterdam, studied at Amsterdam Academy,

[00:01:33] and at the age of 19 preached his first sermon in the Methodist church there. From his earliest days,

[00:01:40] my dad had a thirst for knowledge and what he learned he wanted to pass on to others.

[00:01:45] That desire for study was a driving force in his life. When a young boy, he felt the call to ministry

[00:01:53] and though he had to go to work in the carpet mills as a weaver at the age of 15,

[00:01:59] every spare minute was devoted to study God's word. He worked his way through school. He attended

[00:02:06] various schools in New Hampshire and in Massachusetts. And always he had one fixed goal,

[00:02:12] preach the gospel, to study that show yourself approved unto God. A workman needeth not to be

[00:02:19] ashamed, rightly divided in the word of truth. Dr. Kenyon was pastor of several churches in the New

[00:02:25] England states. At the age of 30 he founded and was president of Bethel Bible Institute. And this,

[00:02:33] through his ministry at Bethel, hundreds of young men and women were trained and ordained for the

[00:02:38] ministry and are now out preaching the word in all parts of the world. For over 20 years,

[00:02:45] my father traveled in evangelistic work in the East. He was known far and wide. Thousands were saved and

[00:02:51] healed in those meetings. After he left the East, he came to California where he also traveled in

[00:02:58] evangelistic work. He was pastor of a church in Los Angeles for several years and was one of the

[00:03:04] pioneers of radio work on the Pacific coast. In 1931 he came to the Northwest and for many years his

[00:03:12] morning broadcast, Kenyon's Church of the Air, was an inspiration and blessing to thousands. He founded

[00:03:19] the New Covenant Baptist Church here in Seattle and for many years was his pastor. Well, I just want

[00:03:26] to conclude this brief tribute to, by Dr. Kenyon's daughter Ruth. She wrote, during the busy years of

[00:03:34] his ministry, he found time to write and publish 16 books, hundreds of poems, and also many other things.

[00:03:43] At the time of his death, he had material assembled for 12 more books and were ready for publication.

[00:03:50] See, and here's something I think is so very precious. Ruth said, shortly before his passing,

[00:03:57] on the very day that he went to heaven, he had a premonition that he would not be here long,

[00:04:04] and he called me and said he felt I was the one to carry on his work. He said, Ruth dear,

[00:04:10] I have a feeling I won't be with you much longer. This work must go on. It's up to you now. You've been

[00:04:18] looking after all these years with the help of the Lord. I know you can carry on. I promised my father

[00:04:24] I would. Well, the work which he started has continued even long after his home going, and the work reaches

[00:04:33] out to all corners of the world. So there's never been a time when the world needs the message like

[00:04:38] this message that God gave to Dr. Kenyon. And I want to just share with you about another

[00:04:47] man of God, a man who worked very closely with Dr. Kenyon, who was considered one of his best friends.

[00:04:53] His name is Pastor George Hunter. And he wrote this tribute as well. Let me just say it briefly.

[00:05:03] He was a man who worked so closely with Dr. Kenyon. And I'm going to share what he wrote about some of the

[00:05:10] dark experiences of Dr. Kenyon's ministry, as well as stories of his triumphs of faith and love.

[00:05:18] So listen carefully as I read what Pastor George Hunter wrote. He wrote,

[00:05:25] No man that we know had such a gift as a teacher as Dr. Kenyon. We all wondered at him,

[00:05:33] but let us remember the price he had to pay. I've seen Dr. Kenyon suffer as few men have suffered.

[00:05:40] During those early years of his Bible school, the things I saw him pass through were almost

[00:05:46] unbelievable. I saw him suffer persecution from brethren. I remember the early struggles against

[00:05:52] false teachings. I saw him suffer financial loss and misunderstanding. I saw the work of false friends.

[00:06:00] I saw those who helped turn traitor, and I knew of heartaches known to the crowds.

[00:06:08] Then I saw the sickness and death that came and took his mate when she died.

[00:06:13] I stood at the graveside with him. I saw men rob him of all he had labored for.

[00:06:18] Lies, abuse, and insults were heaped upon him. In the midst of it all, he walked like a king,

[00:06:24] and God gave him victory in his soul. And then Dr. Pastor Hunter goes on to write,

[00:06:32] I've also seen his happy days and prosperity without losing his head. I remember the highlights of Dr.

[00:06:40] Kenyon's life when a great Bible school was in full swing, when evangelistic tours were winning

[00:06:47] thousands of Christ, when the country was appreciating very much, when once again he took a bride to

[00:06:53] himself and had a happy home, when he enjoyed the love of a great body of young ministers whom he had trained.

[00:07:01] Mountains and valleys, one after another, have all worked together to make the teacher that Dr. Kenyon is today.

[00:07:09] Well, I think this is the appropriate word, and I'm glad that I can share this with you today.

[00:07:15] I pray that the blessing of the Lord that these different people have experienced and shared in

[00:07:23] in the written form that I can share them with you. Praise God for his mercy. And as I've shared these

[00:07:30] testimonies, I pray it'll be a motivation to your heart. I kind of based this whole teaching on

[00:07:37] Colossians 4.17, take heed to the ministry which you receive from the Lord that you fulfill it. This is

[00:07:46] very significant that you consider God's given you a purpose in life, a holy calling. And here's his

[00:07:52] command. It's really oftentimes really a resting statement to my heart. Take heed to the ministry which

[00:08:02] you have received from the Lord that you fulfill it. That's what we must do. We must take heed. We must

[00:08:10] fulfill God's purpose for us. And I, that's my challenge to you. And I hope that you will be

[00:08:16] responsive to that. Well, I want to share with you another tribute that I think is very appropriate.

[00:08:23] And that is how God can use a man to influence and change lives in such a vital way. I hope your heart

[00:08:31] will be open as I share these particular truths. Now, one thing I want to emphasize is that my daughter,

[00:08:41] Judy, was my co-worker. And I will not have time to share what she wrote. But she was telling about

[00:08:48] how we were in contact with several famous evangelists, Oral Roberts, Rex Humbert, and Robert

[00:08:56] Shuler. And I'd like to just take a few moments in connection with this to relate my own relationship

[00:09:03] to these famous evangelists she talked about. Oral Roberts became a wonderful friend. He was such an

[00:09:12] encourager. I have in my possession his own handwritten letters to me. There were letters of encouragement.

[00:09:20] And like the great unselfish man he was, he would always tuck in a love gift for me,

[00:09:27] sowing seed, he said, in my ministry. And then Robert Shuler. I've only met Robert Shuler once in

[00:09:33] this life at the Los Angeles airport when Judy and I had just returned from an overseas crusade.

[00:09:39] Robert Shuler was there in the airport. And when I saw him walk past, I said to Judy,

[00:09:46] that's Robert Shuler. I'm going to go meet him. So I walked across the room there and I introduced myself.

[00:09:56] And it was so interesting to meet this gracious man, Robert Shuler. He was so kind and so caring.

[00:10:04] And I'll never forget after about maybe 20 minutes of talking with each other. He said,

[00:10:10] Don, it's now time for you to go catch my flight. But I want to just have prayer with you. So let's just

[00:10:16] make eye contact with each other and join hands. And there with our eyes wide open, we looked in each

[00:10:22] other's eyes. And never forget the kind words he said. Don, I see the love of Jesus in your eyes.

[00:10:30] Well, that was humbling. But coming from Robert Shuler, it was very significant.

[00:10:37] So I just wanted to say thanks be to God. And now I must mention Rex Humbert. His wife,

[00:10:45] Maude Amy, a great gospel singer. She was such a blessing. And the last time I saw her,

[00:10:52] she said to me, Don, I have read every book you have written. And she was so encouraging about how

[00:11:00] God had used those books to impact her life. Now, I will share on my next broadcast further

[00:11:07] tribute of the perspective my daughter Judy wrote about. But I trust that you will understand

[00:11:14] the grace of God that accompanied the life of Dr. Kenyon and accompanied all these other men whom I

[00:11:20] have mentioned right here. I thank God for you, my friends, my partners. You may not be a famous

[00:11:26] evangelist or a pastor, but you are a co-laborer with God's work for us. And I appreciate so much

[00:11:34] your sowing into the Lord's ministry by your committed giving and thank you. And now my beloved friend,

[00:11:42] I want to pray for you. Father, in Jesus name. First of all, I want to pray for every partner today

[00:11:50] who has loved ones upon their heart that are lost. Those who have prodigal sons and daughters.

[00:11:56] Father, reach out and touch those prodigal children. And may they return to you in repentance

[00:12:01] and faith. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. My beloved, join me now as we praise the Lord together. Let's say

[00:12:10] praise the Lord. Amen. 10 times. Praise the Lord. Amen. Praise the Lord. Amen. Praise the Lord. Amen.

[00:12:22] Praise the Lord. Amen. Praise the Lord. Amen. Praise the Lord. Amen.
