048 - When A Real Crisis Kicks In #3 - Don Gossett

[00:00:07] I want to share with you again about my interview on the national television program at Supernatural.

[00:00:14] Brother Sid Roth interviewed me and the questions were multiple and I thank God I could give God's glory for the answers.

[00:00:24] One of the key questions asked was about my daughter Judy, about her healing in London.

[00:00:31] It was in 1994 when Judy and I were traveling. We'd gone to East Africa for meetings and the Lord had blessed mightily.

[00:00:42] Judy had been very busy leading a hundred voice choir in Nairobi and then we went on to Mombasa.

[00:00:49] Well, the day came when our ministry in East Africa was over and we were going back home.

[00:00:57] We had scheduled an overnight stay in London before returning to America.

[00:01:03] And it was on that flight that Judy got really sick on the British Airways flight and she began vomiting.

[00:01:10] And by the time she reached London, she was hemorrhaging from most openings in her body.

[00:01:16] And then she was taken to the medical examining room there and a doctor treated her for quite some time.

[00:01:26] They were thinking it was possibly some contagious disease that had filled her body, maybe food poisoning or whatever.

[00:01:36] And then the doctor came to inform me, we've got to take your daughter away to the hospital.

[00:01:43] And she's now the responsibility of British Airways in the city of London.

[00:01:47] Well, I want to share with you what happened there and not just that hospital at Heathrow Airport, but what happened in my daughter's life.

[00:01:59] I've shared this before and the full testimony about this appears in my book about words that move mountains.

[00:02:05] But I want to give you how I responded and God gave grace in that deep type of crisis that came that day.

[00:02:15] I can never forget it.

[00:02:17] And you see, Judy's testimony is being shared on this national television program.

[00:02:25] How her story of a miraculous recovery when she was so critically ill.

[00:02:30] Now, frankly, in my years of ministry, I've never known a miracle that even exceeds this one, not because it was my daughter, but because of the grace of God.

[00:02:42] An outstanding miracle in a time of deep crisis when her life was at stake.

[00:02:47] Let me just briefly recap the story.

[00:02:50] I'll share these significant details.

[00:03:30] Strongly, they said medical attendants would meet the flight to take Judy away to a medical examining room.

[00:03:39] And then after more than an hour, a doctor came with this critical news.

[00:03:45] She said, Mr. Gossett, we've taken blood from your daughter.

[00:03:48] She has something more than parasites.

[00:03:51] But beyond that, we were uncertain.

[00:03:53] We've ordered an ambulance to come immediately and take her across London to a hospital that specializes in tropical and infectious diseases.

[00:04:03] I pleaded, oh, please, doctor.

[00:04:05] That will be necessary to take Judy to this hospital.

[00:04:09] Judy worked very hard in Africa.

[00:04:15] Well, this doctor was quite blunt as she responded to my protest.

[00:04:23] She said, Mr. Gossett, your daughter leaving London is not an option.

[00:04:29] She has now been quarantined.

[00:04:31] She's the responsibility of British Airways in the city of London.

[00:04:35] There's no way we'd permit her to leave with possibly a highly contagious disease.

[00:04:42] When we arrived at that hospital, a whole battery of doctors and nurses met us.

[00:04:47] They took Judy away to an isolation room.

[00:04:51] After a long time, Dr. Clark, the chief physician, came out to speak to me.

[00:04:56] He said, Mr. Gossett, your daughter is an extremely ill woman.

[00:05:00] We'll do our best to save her life.

[00:05:02] You'll be able to enter the isolation room only 20 minutes, and then you must leave the hospital,

[00:05:09] and you'll not be permitted to return until we notify you can.

[00:05:13] I went into that room, and I said to my daughter,

[00:05:17] I was going to speak over her the alphabet of healing.

[00:05:20] Those 26 healing scriptures have been so meaningful to my life and many other people.

[00:05:26] Now, I said again in my book, Words That Move Mountains,

[00:05:29] I relate the full story. I'm only sharing some highlights of it here today.

[00:05:35] And I spoke God's word over Judy, each of those 26 scriptures.

[00:05:40] And it was when I spoke the letter O that the word of the Lord penetrated your heart.

[00:05:45] It's what it read,

[00:05:46] Ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham,

[00:05:50] whom Satan has bound, lo, these 18 years,

[00:05:53] be loosed of this bond on the Sabbath day?

[00:05:56] That verse, Ought not this woman be loosed?

[00:06:00] It became a rammer word to Judy's spirit and body,

[00:06:04] and she never vomited again.

[00:06:06] She didn't pass blood any further,

[00:06:09] and the healing became realized.

[00:06:12] Well, the next morning,

[00:06:15] Dr. Clark phoned me.

[00:06:16] He said,

[00:06:17] Mr. Gossett,

[00:06:18] This is remarkable.

[00:06:20] It's like we had two different women in that bed.

[00:06:22] Last night when we took blood,

[00:06:25] it showed the infection was severe.

[00:06:27] We gave her no medicine because we didn't know how to medicate her.

[00:06:31] This morning, we took blood again.

[00:06:34] Her blood is completely clear and pure.

[00:06:36] We have just now discharged your daughter from the hospital.

[00:06:41] She will meet you at Heathrow Airport for your flight back to North America today.

[00:07:10] Now, I don't always understand everything that happens

[00:07:13] about the walk of faith and God's challenge to our hearts,

[00:07:17] and I know that nine years passed and we had another crisis

[00:07:21] when Judy became ill and was hospitalized with an unknown affliction.

[00:07:25] There's no relation to what had happened in 1994,

[00:07:29] and it was that time that we had a real challenge to our lives,

[00:07:34] and thank God the details.

[00:07:37] I will not take time to enumerate today

[00:07:39] except to say that the rest is history.

[00:07:42] God gives victory,

[00:07:43] and you can also have a victory in overcoming crisis

[00:07:48] that besets your life,

[00:07:50] and God can undertake for you.

[00:07:52] Now, I have said earlier in this series

[00:07:55] that there is one of the answers I'm convinced that God will honor,

[00:08:00] and that is true praise to the Lord,

[00:08:03] whatever your crisis.

[00:08:05] You see, I can only give you the answer with four words.

[00:08:09] Praise brings the answer.

[00:08:12] Praise can bring life where there was death,

[00:08:15] freedom where there is bondage,

[00:08:17] divine joy where there is sorrow.

[00:08:20] When you learn to praise God at all times,

[00:08:23] even in crisis times and all circumstances,

[00:08:27] I believe you'll experience a truly victorious life

[00:08:30] and a wonderful victory.

[00:08:32] God will work wonders on your behalf

[00:08:35] because he inhabits the praise of his people.

[00:08:38] That's what Psalm 22.3 declares,

[00:08:41] the tremendous power of praise that awaits you.

[00:08:44] So I trust you'll avail yourself

[00:08:47] of the victories of praise in the face of your crisis,

[00:08:51] whatever they may be today.

[00:08:53] God understands,

[00:08:55] and God wants to minister to you.

[00:08:57] Now, I've said this,

[00:08:59] I've already been sharing this series

[00:09:01] about crisis,

[00:09:04] and I've quoted the man David

[00:09:06] who simply said,

[00:09:08] I'll bless the Lord at all times,

[00:09:10] up times, down times, dark times, bright times.

[00:09:14] And I thank God for those dear ones

[00:09:17] who have demonstrated this truth

[00:09:19] by simply letting God's word prevail.

[00:09:22] So I'm asking you again the question,

[00:09:25] how do you respond when a real crisis

[00:09:28] kicks in in your life?

[00:09:29] Well, let me share with you

[00:09:31] about the victory that many people

[00:09:34] have experienced in the power of praise.

[00:09:36] I think about the wonderful truth

[00:09:39] that Dr. Johnson,

[00:09:42] the medical doctor, said,

[00:09:43] the happiest and healthiest people

[00:09:46] are those who are quick to praise the Lord.

[00:09:49] When crisis comes,

[00:09:51] instead of being a grumbler,

[00:09:54] they rise up and begin

[00:09:56] to appropriate the victory of Jesus.

[00:09:58] Now, if you respond to your crisis

[00:10:01] with failure,

[00:10:03] with grumbling,

[00:10:04] you'll be depleted,

[00:10:06] you'll be starved spiritually,

[00:10:08] and you'll lose your sense of well-being.

[00:10:10] So it's so essential

[00:10:12] that you let God's word

[00:10:14] give you this wonderful ability.

[00:10:17] Now, I know I'm speaking to you

[00:10:19] whose hearts are crushing today,

[00:10:22] broken.

[00:10:23] Life has dealt you

[00:10:24] some miserable, adverse crisis.

[00:10:27] You may sincerely wish

[00:10:29] things were different than they are now.

[00:10:31] You would give anything

[00:10:33] if you could turn back the clock

[00:10:34] and enjoy life as you once knew it.

[00:10:36] Well, gratefully,

[00:10:37] God has given provision

[00:10:39] how you can rise above all crisis.

[00:10:42] Read Isaiah chapter 61,

[00:10:45] where God promises

[00:10:46] that he'll give us beauty for ashes,

[00:10:49] the oil of joy for mourning,

[00:10:51] the garment of praise

[00:10:52] for the spirit of heaviness.

[00:10:54] Hear this,

[00:10:55] out of your ashes

[00:10:56] of disappointments,

[00:10:57] of crisis,

[00:10:59] Jesus will give you beauty.

[00:11:00] It seems almost impossible.

[00:11:03] Now, for you that have lost

[00:11:05] loved ones by death,

[00:11:06] this is, of course,

[00:11:08] also one of God's provision

[00:11:10] to give you the oil of joy

[00:11:12] for mourning.

[00:11:13] The oil of joy,

[00:11:15] I say,

[00:11:15] will replace that mourning.

[00:11:17] And then,

[00:11:18] the third benefit here

[00:11:19] in Isaiah 61,

[00:11:22] God will give you

[00:11:23] the garment of praise

[00:11:24] for the spirit of heaviness.

[00:11:26] So whatever your crisis today,

[00:11:28] God wants to give you

[00:11:30] this wonderful garment of praise

[00:11:32] to be a spiritual force.

[00:11:34] So let's consider

[00:11:36] the priceless garment of praise

[00:11:38] here for a few moments.

[00:11:39] You know,

[00:11:40] many people have experienced this.

[00:11:42] I have before me

[00:11:44] a testimony from a lady

[00:11:46] who has received

[00:11:47] a wonderful victory

[00:11:48] in her circumstances.

[00:11:50] She had described

[00:11:51] how oppressive things were

[00:11:53] about the crisis of her life.

[00:11:55] And then she said,

[00:11:57] Mr. Gossett,

[00:11:58] I ordered your book,

[00:12:00] There's Dynamite in Praise.

[00:12:01] What a book!

[00:12:03] Anointed by the Holy Spirit.

[00:12:05] I just couldn't stop

[00:12:06] praising the Lord.

[00:12:08] And those principles

[00:12:09] you have ministered

[00:12:11] brought great victory for me.

[00:12:13] And I've memorized

[00:12:14] almost all the 100

[00:12:16] praise scriptures

[00:12:17] you've written out

[00:12:17] in your book.

[00:12:18] And I'm just amazed

[00:12:19] what the Lord's done for me,

[00:12:21] that I've been able

[00:12:22] to praise my way

[00:12:23] to a life of victory

[00:12:24] and power

[00:12:25] over the oppression

[00:12:27] of the wicked one,

[00:12:28] the devil.

[00:12:29] Yes, beloved,

[00:12:30] this is my sharing with you

[00:12:32] the truth.

[00:12:33] And God wants to help you.

[00:12:35] And now,
