[00:00:00] Proverbs 6, Verse 2
[00:00:03] The Word of God is quick and powerful, sharper than a two-edged sword, yet we can be snared by the words of our mouth.
[00:00:11] Now the Holy Spirit dropped into my heart to give you a quickened word that I think will really minister to you.
[00:00:18] Hear me please. Every time you confess weakness, you become weaker.
[00:00:24] Every time you confess sickness, you grow worse. Every time you tell people about your lack, you have more lack.
[00:00:33] From this day, please step into the ranks of the conquerors, the overcomers. Why?
[00:00:39] Philippians 4.13 is still in the book. You can do all things through Christ who is your strength, your wisdom, your ability. Praise the Lord.
[00:00:48] I want to thank you in Jesus' name for your generous gifts and your prayers for bold Bible missions.
[00:00:55] We are partners together in God's great work.
[00:00:59] Now I'm sharing about 12 persons whom God anointed with the power of the Holy Spirit to do good.
[00:01:08] I shared with you already about Smith Wigglesworth, what a unique personality he was.
[00:01:14] And then I've been sharing about John G. Lake, John Graham Lake.
[00:01:18] I have had the delight of being in South Africa, all over that particular part of the world,
[00:01:26] in those great cities of Johannesburg and Cape Town and Port Elizabeth and Durban and Pretoria and South Orange State.
[00:01:36] And all these places, I was always impressed by the influence of John G. Lake.
[00:01:43] You see, with his wife and seven children and four other people, Lake traveled to South Africa
[00:01:50] and was immediately awed by God's provision for his ministry.
[00:01:55] Remarkable story how he had less than $2 left when he started on this journey,
[00:02:00] yet God provided the funds for each step of the journey.
[00:02:04] And when John Lake arrived in Cape Town, God demonstrated again his divine planning.
[00:02:11] For Lake's coming had been revealed by the Holy Spirit to a woman missionary in South Africa,
[00:02:18] and she already had prepared for Lake and his family for places to stay.
[00:02:23] That missionary was named Mrs. C.L. Goodenough.
[00:02:27] Goodenough, a good name too.
[00:02:29] And she had been told exactly the number of children who would arrive with John Lake and his wife,
[00:02:34] and she began to work with the Lakes and remained a faithful worker in their ministry.
[00:02:39] Within a year, John Lake became the pastor of a church there in South Africa,
[00:02:45] and it became a great success for God's glory.
[00:02:50] He returned to the United States and went back then later to South Africa with new strength for his call,
[00:02:57] and with him were eight additional missionaries who would share with him in evangelizing that part of the world.
[00:03:06] Well, John Lake founded the Apostolic Church and presided over 625 congregations.
[00:03:13] There were 125 white and 500 native.
[00:03:18] Now, Lake's own evangelistic travels through South Africa continued,
[00:03:23] and he won thousands to Christ.
[00:03:26] He ministered God's grace of the healing of Jesus.
[00:03:30] And when I talk about the truth of Acts 10, 38,
[00:03:34] how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and power,
[00:03:38] who went about doing good, healing all oppressed of the devil,
[00:03:43] for God is with him.
[00:03:45] Well, John Lake experienced this anointing,
[00:03:48] this anointing with the power to do good.
[00:03:50] He continued to be such a great instrument in God's hands.
[00:03:54] And the result was that he was received by most of the organizations of the nation of South Africa.
[00:04:02] Then, a very sad event.
[00:04:05] He took a missionary journey to Kalahari Desert.
[00:04:10] That itself wasn't sad.
[00:04:12] It's what he discovered when he returned back home.
[00:04:15] He discovered that his wife had died of a stroke.
[00:04:19] It was possibly caused by malnutrition and the difficult work for what they were doing.
[00:04:25] John Lake was heartbroken and soon returned to the United States,
[00:04:29] where after a time of loneliness he married a lady named Florence Switzer.
[00:04:35] Well, then he moved to Spokane, Washington a year later,
[00:04:39] and John Lake opened healing rooms where tens of thousands of people were not only healed,
[00:04:45] but were able to learn how to pray and believe for healing.
[00:04:48] And the remarkable testimony that in five years,
[00:04:54] more than 100,000 persons shared confirmed healings when John G. Lake and his team had ministered to them.
[00:05:03] Now, that's something that's continued to the present day.
[00:05:06] Healing rooms in many of the cities of America and the world,
[00:05:10] and Canada and elsewhere else.
[00:05:13] Well, it was the ability of God to anoint this man.
[00:05:17] And Galatians 6, 10,
[00:05:20] As you therefore have opportunity,
[00:05:22] let's do good to all men, even to them of the household of faith.
[00:05:27] Yes, God has given us the commission that we have opportunity to do good.
[00:05:32] Hallelujah!
[00:05:33] That's the reason why the fire burns in my heart,
[00:05:36] to continue to reach out to the nations of the world.
[00:05:40] My literature, my books in 18 languages,
[00:05:43] by God's a calling,
[00:05:44] and by being an instrument in his hand to be able to broadcast the gospel
[00:05:49] all over the nations of the world.
[00:05:51] What a delight it is!
[00:05:53] Well, let me share with you another of those dear persons
[00:05:56] who was anointed by the power of the Holy Spirit to do good.
[00:06:00] Her name was Amy Semple McPherson.
[00:06:04] She was the founder of the Foursquare Gospel Church.
[00:06:07] And she was very well known, even as a young person.
[00:06:11] And she was one whom God used mightily.
[00:06:15] Now, she was born in Canada
[00:06:17] and was raised in tradition of the Wesleyan theology.
[00:06:21] And she began her traveling work throughout the continent,
[00:06:25] the nations of the world.
[00:06:26] And she was considered to be among the most anointed
[00:06:30] of the Ministry of Healing Evangelists.
[00:06:33] And then she met an evangelist named Robert James Semple,
[00:06:38] just before her 18th birthday.
[00:06:40] And because of his preaching, she reaffirmed her faith in God.
[00:06:45] Amy and Semple, married, were ordained by the gospel of Christ.
[00:06:51] And they decided that God called them to become missionaries to China.
[00:06:56] And here's one of the other really challenging events.
[00:07:00] Shortly after they arrived in China,
[00:07:03] Robert Semple contracted malaria and died.
[00:07:08] Because Amy was pregnant, she stayed in Hong Kong until the birth of her daughter.
[00:07:15] And then she returned back to North America and worked with New York City's Salvation Army,
[00:07:22] where she met a man named Harold McPherson.
[00:07:26] It was her second husband.
[00:07:28] The couple moved to Chicago and then eventually back to Canada.
[00:07:32] Amy Semple McPherson had begun her own ministry.
[00:07:36] And her husband Harold worked with her in setting up crusades.
[00:07:41] She was ordained by the Assumers of God.
[00:07:44] And with an intense evangelistic fervor,
[00:07:46] she experienced increasing difficulties with her husband over their ministry.
[00:07:52] And they were divorced.
[00:07:54] My divorce is always so sad.
[00:07:57] And I would like to just pause right here.
[00:07:59] It has no relation to Amy's condition right here.
[00:08:02] It's for you.
[00:08:03] You that are threatened by a divorce.
[00:08:06] You that are facing a divorce.
[00:08:08] Father, how pitiful, how sad, how heartbreaking it is.
[00:08:13] When a couple dissolve their marriage and are divorced,
[00:08:17] and Lord, the heartache, the disappointment, the king, bitterness can come.
[00:08:22] Minister to those people who have been victimized by these wrong spirits
[00:08:27] and been the product of a divorce.
[00:08:29] In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
[00:08:32] Well, I'm talking about Amy Semple McPherson,
[00:08:36] a Canadian lady who became a mighty torch for God everywhere.
[00:08:40] And she kept on ministering and going everywhere.
[00:08:44] And she was received by all the different types of churches,
[00:08:49] Methodists, Episcopal, Baptist churches.
[00:08:53] And she was strongly anointed to minister beyond these barriers of denomination.
[00:08:59] And she was one that God used to establish the Church of the Four Square Gospel in Los Angeles.
[00:09:06] I've had the opportunity to go to Angela's temple, this great church that God anointed her to raise up.
[00:09:13] And her message continued.
[00:09:16] Now, the Four Square Gospel was the concept of four different emphasis on preaching Jesus Christ.
[00:09:33] The Great Angels Temple was the Savior,
[00:09:40] The Great Angels Temple was used by God in an awesome way.
[00:09:54] And Amy continued.
[00:09:55] She continued to be used by God to raise up thousands of students who then became a part of her Calvacate of Christianity.
[00:10:04] And it was an awesome experience.
[00:10:06] Well, I have had opportunity for these many years to embrace many of Amy's particular views about the truths of the Bible,
[00:10:18] and even to the persecution she underwent.
[00:10:22] Well, Amy went to be with the Lord after an accidental overdose of medication.
[00:10:29] And her funeral in Los Angeles was one of the most celebrated funerals ever in Southern California.
[00:10:37] Well, I'm talking about dear people, anointed by the power of the Holy Spirit to do good.
[00:10:42] I've shared with you about John G. Lake, about Smith Wigglesworth, and now about Amy Semple McPherson.
[00:10:50] I will cover totally 12 different ministries that God has raised up in these past years.
[00:10:58] And I am humbly grateful that at least six of them I was involved with personally for years
[00:11:04] and traveled with these men and women of God.
[00:11:08] What an experience it's been.
[00:11:10] What a background.
[00:11:11] And I'm grateful for that.
[00:11:12] Oh, my beloved friend, I'm going to appeal to you.
[00:11:14] Please consider how God will anoint you, anoint you with the power of the Holy Spirit to do good.
[00:11:21] What is that good?
[00:11:23] To minister healing to the sick and to cast out evil spirits.
[00:11:28] Now, that's what exactly Acts 10 38 says.
[00:11:31] Study this verse for yourself.
[00:11:32] How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and power who went about doing good, healing all oppressed of the devil for God is with him.
[00:11:44] Oh, what a delight it is to live Acts 10 38 and be anointed to be a God's instrument to do good, to minister healing, to break the strongholds of the devil.
[00:11:56] In Jesus name, praise God for this great ability.
[00:12:00] Father, touch every heart.
[00:12:01] God give people a vision of the ripened harvest field.
[00:12:05] Give them Lord a quickening by your Holy Spirit of the ability, the anointing you have given that they can go about empowered by your spirit to do good.
[00:12:15] They can be instruments to minister healing and salvation in Jesus name.
[00:12:21] Amen.
[00:12:22] Well, this is an exciting series I'm sharing, and I'll give you more information about other persons whom God has raised up and done awesome work.
[00:12:32] But right now, I want to invite you to request this special CD.
[00:12:36] Michael Dale will give you more information about it.
[00:12:39] But join me, please.
[00:12:41] Join me with a whole heart.
[00:12:42] Let's say praise our wonderful Lord as we take this praise break.
[00:12:48] Praise the Lord.
[00:12:50] Praise the Lord.
[00:12:52] Praise the Lord.
[00:12:54] Praise the Lord.
[00:12:56] Praise the Lord.
[00:12:58] Praise the Lord.
