035 - Are You Hurting #1 - Don Gossett

[00:00:00] Let's begin today's broadcast with a praise break. I want to invite you to join me in saying praise the Lord, Amen. The word Amen means so bad. And let's get together. Let's say praise the Lord, Amen. Will you join me please?

[00:00:34] Praise the Lord, Amen. Praise the Lord, Amen. Praise the Lord, Amen. Hallelujah.

[00:00:45] Well, I'm here in the studio to speak direct to your heart asking you this question, Are You Hurting?

[00:00:53] Jesus prayed for you and me in John 17, 15. He said, Holy Father, I do not ask you to take them out of the world,

[00:01:03] but keep them from Satan's power. I'm convinced many of you are hurting because of Satan's power.

[00:01:11] So I'm here to give you a message that I believe will be a source of inspiration and help to you.

[00:01:17] You see, I've long realized that my ministry is one of outreach to you who are hurting.

[00:01:24] It seems most everyone I encounter is hurting. I have you clearly in mind when I am here in the studio broadcasting.

[00:01:33] And when I write books, my main focus is on you who are beset by hurts of all varieties.

[00:01:40] How can I help you with your hurts, beloved friend?

[00:01:43] With this motivation of mine, it's quite easy to flow out with compassion as I write and as I speak.

[00:01:52] Now then, there are the letters that come to me.

[00:01:55] They contain the personal heart cry of you who are hurting.

[00:02:00] And I pray for those hurts to be healed by the great physician, Jesus of Nazareth.

[00:02:06] And I write letters or send appropriate literature that I have written assuring you I care.

[00:02:13] Most of all, I want to convey God's care and love for you.

[00:02:18] I counsel with a lady whose only son and son-in-law had been killed violently in two separate accidents.

[00:02:25] This lady's heart has been broken.

[00:02:28] As I endeavored to help her with her hurts, my spirit went out to the multitudes of you, just like her,

[00:02:35] who have had your hearts torn within your bosoms by the sudden deaths of loved ones.

[00:02:41] So I ask you, are you hurting?

[00:02:44] I share this message with a prayer in love.

[00:02:47] My fervent prayer are the words of Jesus, his prayer, Father, keep them from Satan's power.

[00:02:54] Speaking of hurting, let me share with you about a little boy in the back of a hearse.

[00:03:01] A local undertaker took my wife and me to see the beautiful island of St. Lucia in the West Indies.

[00:03:08] When we returned to the undertaker's funeral home, we noticed his hearse was parked out front.

[00:03:16] And lying in the back of that hearse was a little boy.

[00:03:20] When my wife saw him, at first he thought he was dead.

[00:03:24] But seeing his body move, she knew he was alive.

[00:03:28] The undertaker explained to us, this little boy has no father or mother.

[00:03:33] He roams the streets during the day.

[00:03:36] One morning I found him asleep in the back of my hearse.

[00:03:40] Learning he had no home, I decided to let him sleep each night in the hearse.

[00:03:46] Well, my wife would instantly move with tears.

[00:03:49] God used this incident to speak strongly to our hearts.

[00:03:53] Compassion gripped us and the Holy Spirit gave us a vital concern.

[00:03:58] To help the hurting underprivileged children, not only in those islands,

[00:04:02] but in Haiti, Africa, India, Indonesia.

[00:04:07] And that was launching a ministry to each of those nations

[00:04:10] in behalf of underprivileged children, most of them orphans.

[00:04:15] And for you that have shared in these ventures,

[00:04:18] I know we have had the joy of doing something that pleases God.

[00:04:23] So I ask you, can you help hurting children?

[00:04:26] You know, God has blessed me with two sons and three daughters,

[00:04:31] six grandsons and six granddaughters,

[00:04:34] two great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters.

[00:04:37] Oh, what a holy privilege of my lifetime

[00:04:40] to devote love and a caring heart for these 17 grandchildren.

[00:04:45] Well, I'm praising God that those grandchildren of age,

[00:04:50] my granddaughter Jessica has gone as a missionary to Haiti,

[00:04:55] my granddaughter Rebecca has gone as a missionary to Zambia in Africa,

[00:04:59] and my granddaughter Samantha has gone as a missionary to Mexico.

[00:05:04] So I'm glad for what the Lord has done.

[00:05:07] And of course, my oldest grandson has now served in India 14 years.

[00:05:13] So I'm grateful that my children have caught my vision

[00:05:17] on behalf of children.

[00:05:20] Now, also, I've had the personal privilege of focusing my ministry

[00:05:26] on the sevenfold blessing of Jesus that I have been anointed to minister

[00:05:31] to thousands of boys and girls in India, Argentina, Africa, Papua New Guinea,

[00:05:38] and many other nations.

[00:05:40] You see, I get the example of Jesus.

[00:05:42] Oh, how he loved the children when he walked here.

[00:05:45] And his same gracious love motivates all of us to bless the children.

[00:05:50] It's been a precious Jesus ministry to lay hands on the boys and girls just like Jesus did.

[00:05:58] And I appeal to you, reach out and bless the children you may have access to.

[00:06:04] Jesus said in John 14, 12,

[00:06:07] He that believeth in me, the works that I do shall he do also.

[00:06:11] So when we focus on blessing the children like Jesus did, we're doing his works.

[00:06:17] Now, another hurting people whom I have encountered in my travels are the Arma Indians,

[00:06:24] the native Indians of South America.

[00:06:27] What a challenge to my heart to reach and touch them through my nightly broadcast there

[00:06:33] on the Pomerun River of South America.

[00:06:36] Every night for 14 years, my responsibility to speak to those Amerindians by radio.

[00:06:43] Their drunkenness, their fighting, killing is widespread.

[00:06:47] And life is primitive, uncultured for them.

[00:06:51] And existing is simply a daily endurance until Jesus comes.

[00:06:57] Thank God that's the great blessing.

[00:06:59] And we have received many encouraging reports of the effectiveness of our nightly radio programs

[00:07:06] there in South America on the Pomerun River.

[00:07:10] And we've got the result of how God is blessed.

[00:07:15] We have shipped to them down there thousands of my books.

[00:07:18] And we've had these beautiful testimonies.

[00:07:22] How many of these Amerindians have been transformed when Jesus came into their hearts.

[00:07:28] And beloved, you may not live on a river in the jungles of South America,

[00:07:33] but your prayers for underprivileged children and people like those there on the Pomerun River are so valuable.

[00:07:41] Let me tell you about an experience I had when a man walked up to me and pronounced evil curses over me.

[00:07:50] I was just leaving the platform of our meetings in San Fernando and Trinidad.

[00:07:55] The Lord had mightily blessed the open air service that night, and my heart was filled with gratitude.

[00:08:02] But suddenly a man encountered me.

[00:08:05] He began uttering over me the most vile curses I'd ever heard.

[00:08:09] He pronounced one curse after another.

[00:08:12] And after listening to him for a few moments, I realized he was speaking under the unction of the unholy spirit, the devil.

[00:08:20] I knew it was serious business in the supernatural realm to have curses pronounced over one.

[00:08:27] And I'm grateful. Praise God.

[00:08:29] I say to you, beloved, if you are being cursed by someone, evil curses will be fearless in resisting Satan.

[00:08:39] Resist those curses that were pronounced by others.

[00:08:42] For in the deceptive unseen world is a treacherous realm.

[00:08:46] So be sure to apply the blood of Jesus, the word of God and the name of Jesus, and you'll be an overcomer.

[00:08:54] Now, let me tell you what happened that night in Trinidad.

[00:08:57] By the anointing of the Holy Spirit, I waxed bold.

[00:09:01] I declared to that evil man, you cannot put a curse on me.

[00:09:06] My God declares I'm blessed with all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus.

[00:09:11] And when God blesses, no man can reverse it.

[00:09:15] I'm grateful to my heavenly Father that no evil effects came upon me that night because of this wicked man's curse.

[00:09:22] Now, man's word is man's word, even when it's energized by an unholy spirit power.

[00:09:28] But God's word is God's word, it is supreme.

[00:09:33] So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed, Acts 19, 20.

[00:09:38] I share this word with you.

[00:09:40] One of the reasons you are hurting is because of evil spirits arrayed against you.

[00:09:46] But thank God you can be kept from Satan's power.

[00:09:49] Revelation chapter 12 informs us we're living in the days of the devil's wrath.

[00:09:56] You may be faced with unusual pressures.

[00:09:59] You may have challenges to deal with these oppressions of the adversary.

[00:10:04] And Jesus has given us authority.

[00:10:07] If you're suffering from satanic induced hurts, boldly speak the word of God like Jesus did when he was confronted by the evil one.

[00:10:17] Romans 8, 37.

[00:10:19] Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors are him that loved us.

[00:10:23] 1 John 4, 4.

[00:10:25] Ye are of God, my little children, and have overcome them.

[00:10:28] For greater is he that's in you than he that's in the world.

[00:10:32] James 4, 7.

[00:10:34] Resist the devil, he'll flee from you.

[00:10:36] 1 Corinthians 15, 58.

[00:10:39] Since future victory is sure, be strong and steady, always abounding in the work of the Lord,

[00:10:45] for nothing you do for the Lord is ever wasted.

[00:10:48] Now, in response to your speaking God's word against the wicked devil,

[00:10:53] you can praise the Lord because of the mighty victories that are yours.

[00:10:58] Father, I pray for every person in this radio audience that have been the victim of evil curses pronounced upon their lives,

[00:11:06] curses of an untimely death, of diabolical diseases, of other assaults upon their minds, upon their spirits, upon their properties.

[00:11:16] In Jesus' name, we take authority and dominion over these invasions of the wicked one.

[00:11:22] And we say, Devil, be gone!

[00:11:25] For in Jesus' name you are defeated!

[00:11:28] Hallelujah!

[00:11:29] Well, what a joy and privilege it is to have faith in God!

[00:11:33] To know that the victory is ours through Jesus!

[00:11:36] So if you are hurting, beloved, let the Lord minister to you today.

[00:11:41] He'll pour in the oil of joy for your mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.

[00:11:46] And now, beloved, here is a sure weapon.
