[00:00:00] I thought it good, absolutely good to show the signs and wonders that the high God has wrought toward us.
[00:00:08] How great have been His wonders! How mighty have been His signs!
[00:00:13] And praise God we are that generation where He is confirming the Word in an awesome way.
[00:00:20] I have been sharing with you about the signs and wonders God has granted in overseas mission.
[00:00:26] And I want to just take a moment to take you by memory to the island of Barbuda.
[00:00:33] Now, Barbuda is a small island in the northeastern Caribbean.
[00:00:38] And I went there for ministry at the invitation of the evangelical churches.
[00:00:44] Now, at that time there were only two air flights a week to go into Barbuda.
[00:00:50] When you arrived on one flight you could not leave the island until later in the week.
[00:00:55] When a second flight came.
[00:00:57] And when I arrived at the airport there in Barbuda, unlike other islands I'd visited,
[00:01:03] there were no taxis, no automobiles to receive me,
[00:01:08] simply a host of beautiful people on foot to make me welcome.
[00:01:12] Those gracious people of Barbuda carried my baggage and down the streets through the village of Codrington we walked,
[00:01:21] turning here and there different directions until I arrived at the home of a beloved pastor.
[00:01:28] Now, seldom have I seen such hunger for the gospel as I witnessed in Barbuda.
[00:01:34] When I gave the invitation for those without the Savior to receive him,
[00:01:39] the people actually rushed forward with great eagerness.
[00:01:43] I was overwhelmed by the sight of their desire for the Lord Jesus.
[00:01:47] And they would fall on their knees there in the dirt altar and receive cries with great weepings.
[00:01:54] How the Lord mightily blessed.
[00:01:57] Some days passed and another plane came that would take me from Barbuda to Dominica for further crusades.
[00:02:06] Now, the principals of the school there dismissed all the students that morning I left to come to the airport so they could all tell me goodbye.
[00:02:18] Oh, it was so heart-touching.
[00:02:20] This, in this little island, less than 2,000 people,
[00:02:24] but most of them were present in my meetings to receive the gospel.
[00:02:28] And those without the Lord opened their hearts to him.
[00:02:32] And I think of the words of 1 Samuel 12, 24.
[00:02:36] Only fear of the Lord and serve him in truth with all your heart,
[00:02:40] for consider how great things the Lord has done for you.
[00:02:45] Well, in going all these missions to the nations of the world,
[00:02:50] there's always been the challenge of money.
[00:02:53] I mean, the need of money for these missionary journeys.
[00:02:57] And I'm thinking right now about a particular one.
[00:03:00] When I was in Vancouver, when my friends came to meet me.
[00:03:05] And I hoped that the offering might be the needed amount that I would need for my overseas trip at that time.
[00:03:12] And, however, I was disappointed.
[00:03:15] There was a real shortfall.
[00:03:17] And I was up early the next morning, talking to the Lord about it.
[00:03:21] And I reminded him of his words, that silver and gold are mine.
[00:03:27] And that was a Monday afternoon.
[00:03:29] And I was then told that a visitor had come to my office to want to see me.
[00:03:34] I received this gracious lady who asked me to have prayer for her.
[00:03:40] I ministered in Jesus' name for the Lord to release her from fears.
[00:03:45] And to give her full confidence in God's love for her.
[00:03:49] At the conclusion of our time of prayer and praise,
[00:03:52] this lady handed me a check that she had already written out before she came to my office.
[00:03:58] When I opened the check, I was astonished.
[00:04:01] It was for $2,200.
[00:04:03] $2,200.
[00:04:06] Almost the exact amount that I was praying for.
[00:04:09] Praise God!
[00:04:10] Oh, how my heart rejoiced!
[00:04:12] For God is the only one who can answer prayer in such miraculous ways.
[00:04:16] And faith is the victory that produces these miracles.
[00:04:20] For the Bible says,
[00:04:21] Faith is the substance of things hoped for,
[00:04:24] the evidence of things not seen.
[00:04:27] So, God manifested His grace and power.
[00:04:30] And when I speak about this subject,
[00:04:33] of how God is our provider,
[00:04:35] I think about another overseas trip I was taking again to the islands of the West Indies.
[00:04:41] I was scheduled very extensively,
[00:04:44] having meetings in Trinidad, Tobago,
[00:04:47] Grenada, St. Vincent, Barbados, Martinique, Antigua.
[00:04:51] And I had a considerable lack of money,
[00:04:54] as often may be the challenge,
[00:04:56] and the necessary finances for all the responsibilities.
[00:05:00] And I was looking to the Lord for every need to be met.
[00:05:04] And then I conducted a meeting with my friends in Vancouver,
[00:05:08] and a dear elderly gentleman approached me after the service and said,
[00:05:15] He said,
[00:05:16] He took me aside and said,
[00:05:18] I've just sold my home,
[00:05:20] and I have some money I want to invest in the Lord's work.
[00:05:23] The Lord has given me a vision to invest this money in places where oxen are used in plowing and transportation.
[00:05:32] When I heard you say that you're going to these nations where oxen are used,
[00:05:38] and you're going to be there for some weeks,
[00:05:41] I just feel God wanted you to know that that was a confirmation to me.
[00:05:46] And he said,
[00:05:47] Now, Brother Gossett, if you'll meet me tomorrow at the bank at 10 a.m.,
[00:05:52] I'll give you $2,000 for your missionary trip.
[00:05:56] Oh, my heart was overwhelmed with joy and blessing.
[00:05:59] To know the Lord was using this man to answer my prayer and meet every need.
[00:06:05] How God blesses.
[00:06:07] And living by the truth of Philippians 4.19 is not only good for me, but it's good for you.
[00:06:13] My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
[00:06:20] So this is his truth today to you and to me.
[00:06:23] And I want to encourage you to let this truth of God prevail for your life.
[00:06:29] Now, the Bible says in Proverbs chapter 6, verse 2,
[00:06:41] This is one of the strongest statements to me about the power of words to produce defeat, sickness, and failure
[00:06:49] when you're snared by the words of your mouth,
[00:06:52] when you're taken into captivity because of negative, unbelieving words.
[00:06:57] However, God's Word says,
[00:06:59] Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
[00:07:02] And if you say,
[00:07:03] Oh, I'm so bound.
[00:07:05] Well, you're snared by your own words.
[00:07:07] Now, you may say,
[00:07:09] Well, I know many people do this.
[00:07:11] They minimize the healing touch of the Lord.
[00:07:14] They will piously say,
[00:07:16] Well, I got a touch, but I didn't get my healing.
[00:07:19] However, the Bible declares in Mark 6.56,
[00:07:24] As many as Jesus touched were made whole.
[00:07:27] Notice, they didn't just get a touch.
[00:07:29] They got wholeness, healing.
[00:07:31] That's what the touch of Jesus produces is wholeness.
[00:07:35] And he says,
[00:07:36] Everyone that asketh receiveth.
[00:07:38] And he that seeketh findeth.
[00:07:40] And him that knocketh, it shall be opened to him.
[00:07:43] So you are snared by the words of your mouth
[00:07:46] when you simply contradict what God's Word says.
[00:07:50] Please meditate upon this scripture.
[00:07:52] Proverbs 6.2
[00:07:55] You are snared by the words of your mouth.
[00:07:57] You're taken captive by the words of your mouth.
[00:08:00] And there's such destructive power in these kind of words.
[00:08:04] In fact, the book of James,
[00:08:06] that little chapter 3 of James,
[00:08:09] declares you can kindle a big fire by one word.
[00:08:12] I know, I once made a statement to a man.
[00:08:16] That word took about 10 seconds.
[00:08:19] But the repercussion of it has existed for more than 20 years.
[00:08:23] One word can kindle a big fire.
[00:08:26] I know a lady who refused to forgive herself
[00:08:29] even though God had forgiven her.
[00:08:31] Her words continually kindle a fire in her bosom.
[00:08:35] A fire of remorse, of disillusionment.
[00:08:38] Because she cannot forgive herself of her sin.
[00:08:41] And what a pity it is.
[00:08:43] Now, please understand, we have an adversary, Satan.
[00:08:47] He's identified in the Bible as the accuser of the brethren.
[00:08:51] And he can be that instrument to accuse you.
[00:08:54] And of course, you can just accuse yourself if you refuse to,
[00:08:58] that God's Word prevail.
[00:09:01] Oh, what a fantastic subject it is
[00:09:03] when you consider the power of your words for good or for evil.
[00:09:08] And that's my message I'm sharing with you today.
[00:09:11] About the authority of God's Word.
[00:09:14] He says,
[00:09:15] By your words you are justified, and by your words you are condemned.
[00:09:19] So you're justified when you say,
[00:09:22] As far as the east is from the west,
[00:09:25] So far has the Lord removed my transgressions from me.
[00:09:28] However, you're condemned when you say,
[00:09:31] The Lord holds against me the sins of my youth.
[00:09:33] You are justified when you say,
[00:09:36] No plague shall come nigh my dwelling.
[00:09:41] And you're condemned when you say,
[00:09:43] Well, I just don't feel like I'm safe.
[00:09:46] You are justified when you say,
[00:09:48] Greater is he that's in me than he that is in the world.
[00:09:52] You're condemned when you say,
[00:09:54] Well, the power of the devil is just too much for me.
[00:09:56] Yes, beloved, you can condemn yourself by your own words.
[00:10:00] The results of condemning yourself are not pleasant.
[00:10:04] Romans 14, 22
[00:10:06] Happy is he that condemneth not himself and that which he allows.
[00:10:10] If you are not under condemnation,
[00:10:12] Then you can have great confidence toward the Lord.
[00:10:16] 1 John 3, 21
[00:10:17] Beloved, if our heart condemneth not,
[00:10:20] Then we have confidence toward God.
[00:10:22] So you can disagree with the Lord by your words,
[00:10:25] But however, Amos 3, 3 asked this question,
[00:10:29] How can two walk together except to be agreed?
[00:10:32] Now, if you lay hands upon a sick person
[00:10:36] In obedience to the word,
[00:10:38] And Jesus said,
[00:10:40] Lay hands on the sick that shall recover.
[00:10:42] But if the person for whom you prayed says,
[00:10:46] Well, keep on praying for me.
[00:10:48] So very pathetic.
[00:10:51] And that's not agreeing with God's word.
[00:10:53] For Jesus said,
[00:10:55] They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.
[00:10:58] And for you to say,
[00:11:00] Well, I just can't receive my healing.
[00:11:03] You are disagreeing with the word of God.
[00:11:06] So the question here in Amos 3, 3,
[00:11:09] How can two walk together except to be agreed?
[00:11:12] How can you walk with God in blessing, health, triumph,
[00:11:16] And yet disagree with God by speaking that which is out of harmony with his word?
[00:11:21] Now listen to this scripture.
[00:11:23] Psalm 30, verse 1
[00:11:25] David said,
[00:11:26] I will extol you, O Lord.
[00:11:28] It's a beautiful thing.
[00:11:30] The Lord says,
[00:11:31] We can by our words extol him.
[00:11:34] Have you considered how you have us?
[00:11:36] You can extol Satan by your negative words.
[00:11:39] You can extol the Lord by saying,
[00:11:41] I'm more than a conqueror through Christ.
[00:11:43] Yet you can extol Satan when you say,
[00:11:46] I'm so defeated.
[00:11:48] Or you can extol the Lord by saying,
[00:11:50] This is the victory that overcomes the world, even my faith.
[00:11:54] Yet you can extol Satan by saying,
[00:11:57] I just don't have any faith.
[00:11:59] You can extol the Lord by saying,
[00:12:01] Nothing should be impossible.
[00:12:03] And yet you can extol the devil by saying,
[00:12:06] Oh, this situation is totally impossible.
[00:12:09] So this is what I appeal to you.
[00:12:12] To know how your tongue can be an instrument of blessing,
[00:12:15] Of health of life, and the grace of God.
[00:12:19] Father, I pray this truth will penetrate the heart of every person.
[00:12:24] Lord, we are aware that we're in a spiritual warfare,
[00:12:27] That the weapons of our warfare are not colonel,
[00:12:30] But mighty through you, Lord.
[00:12:32] And I pray that every person who is in a conflict with the adversary,
[00:12:36] That they'll let your word prevail in Jesus' name.
[00:12:39] Amen.
[00:12:41] Well, how about it?
[00:12:42] Why don't you take something very firsturing,
[00:12:45] And that's the Praise of the Lord.
[00:12:47] And let's do it.
[00:12:48] Let's do it with the whole heart.
[00:12:49] Praise you, Lord.
[00:13:05] Hallelujah.
