Believe and Speak God's Word! You must always believe God's Word, and then speak God's Word to activate it.
"And in keeping with what is written: “I believed, therefore I have spoken,” we who have the same spirit of faith also believe and therefore speak," 2 Corinthians 4:13.
[00:00:00] I count it a great delight to come to your life to share with you what I've learned in the school of faith. And I might add that I'm always learning. I really feel I'm still a student in God's school of faith to be able to understand the principles of the Word of God that will prevail for us. The Bible has so much to say about the victory of faith. Also, it talks about a fight of faith, a testing of your faith, a trial of faith, and the very fact, however, that faith is the victory. That's what I want to emphasize today.
[00:00:30] Now, may I just take you back from the very beginning when the Lord led me into a new phase of the school of faith. I'd already learned many principles, of course, up to that time. But there came a time in 1960 when my wife and my family and I, by direction of the Lord, moved from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Vancouver, British Columbia.
[00:00:54] I'd been in Tulsa as an associate to world-renowned evangelist, T.L. Osborne. I served as editor of Faith Digest magazine, obviously a magazine God put his hand upon to reach and touch the lives of about 600,000 homes every month. So here I moved to a new avenue of ministry coming to Vancouver and to commence a new ministry. And for about a year, my family and I traveled.
[00:01:24] We moved to the Canadian prairie, the Canadian prairies, conducting evangelistic crusades. Plus, we had journeyed back into the United States for special meetings and churches.
[00:01:32] And for those months, we gave ourselves to intense study, prayer, waiting on the Lord for his direction, his help.
[00:01:39] Finally, in September 1961, confident of having divine direction to that step, we moved to Victoria, where our children entered public school.
[00:01:49] Things didn't go smoothly for us, although we were convinced we were in the center of God's will for our lives.
[00:01:54] My family lived in a little motel unit. All seven of us cramped into two small rooms.
[00:01:59] I was engaged in special meetings at that time in Longview, Washington and other places on the West Coast, taking Mondays off to drive home to Victoria to be with my family.
[00:02:11] The Lord blessed the meetings, but the offerings I received were small and inadequate for our pressing material needs.
[00:02:18] I've sometimes said that we received a love offering every week.
[00:02:21] And while there was a lot of love, there often wasn't much offering.
[00:02:25] And so this created more frustrations.
[00:02:28] Some weeks, I barely had enough money to pay that $30 a week for the motel rental.
[00:02:34] Other weeks, I had very little money to leave for my wife to buy groceries.
[00:02:38] And there came that time when I'd had the card problem that I had to spend most of my love offering to get my car repaired so I could get on back to Victoria.
[00:02:48] And I'll never forget that night.
[00:02:50] I don't think I can ever forget it because I was despondent about our embarrassing financial plight.
[00:02:56] I did not have the $30 to give to the motel manager to pay for the weekly rent.
[00:03:03] And I really was in a quandary.
[00:03:05] Lord, what can I do?
[00:03:06] Should I leave the ministry even and get a secular job?
[00:03:10] Yet I'd been so certain that our move to Victoria was in the Lord's will.
[00:03:14] Well, I spent that whole night talking to God, just pouring out my heart to Him.
[00:03:19] I had never heard such a frank, open-hearted prayer as my wife prayed that night.
[00:03:24] She told the Lord how tired she was of being unable to properly clothe our children.
[00:03:29] And we often had insufficient food for them.
[00:03:32] She told Him how willing she was to live out of a suitcase, as we had done for almost 14 months prior to this time,
[00:03:39] to sacrifice without a home, but the deprivation for our children was more than she could bear.
[00:03:45] Early the next day, I tore myself from my wife's clinging arms,
[00:03:49] reluctantly leaving to catch the big fury that would take me back to the mainland
[00:03:53] and on down to Longview, Washington, for my meetings,
[00:03:57] in spite of our dismal circumstances and our unappealing prospects.
[00:04:01] Nevertheless, I sensed we were reaching our turning point,
[00:04:04] although there was no evident change in anything.
[00:04:06] While driving down the coast, I sang praises to my Lord because I love Him,
[00:04:12] and I loved Him that day, even though things were so dismal.
[00:04:16] And I want you to know that God met me.
[00:04:18] That season, September and October of 1961,
[00:04:22] was one of the richest times spiritually I've ever known.
[00:04:25] I may have been in deep poverty financially,
[00:04:28] but I was rich in the realm of the Holy Spirit's blessings.
[00:04:31] The book of Proverbs tells us in Proverbs 10, 22,
[00:04:34] The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich and addeth no sorrow.
[00:04:39] What in Longview I spent many sacred hours alone in my bedroom,
[00:04:43] in the home where I was a guest.
[00:04:45] What sweet hours of prayer and study I enjoyed each day.
[00:04:48] This proved to be a tremendous growing experience.
[00:04:51] Through all the years of my Christian life,
[00:04:53] I've discovered that times of deep testing
[00:04:56] are usually preparing me for a time of growth in the Lord.
[00:04:59] I had developed a little motto,
[00:05:01] No test, no testimony.
[00:05:03] The testimonies we have of mighty miracles,
[00:05:06] great deliverances, unusual interventions,
[00:05:09] these have all come from intense times of testing.
[00:05:13] And indeed, our severe testing was coming to a climax,
[00:05:17] and it happened like this.
[00:05:19] Soon after that special night of prayer,
[00:05:22] I was asking the Lord,
[00:05:24] Why are we in such desperate need financially
[00:05:26] when your word promises the supply of all our needs?
[00:05:30] The Lord responded to me through the scripture of Amos 3, 3.
[00:05:34] Thank God for Amos 3, 3.
[00:05:36] 10, 2.
[00:05:38] Walk together, except they be agreed.
[00:05:40] God was saying to me,
[00:05:42] Do you want to walk with me?
[00:05:43] Then you must agree with me.
[00:05:45] You agree with me by saying what my word says.
[00:05:48] You have disagreed with me by speaking lack,
[00:05:51] sickness, fear, defeat, inability.
[00:05:53] If you want to walk with me,
[00:05:55] you just must agree with me.
[00:05:59] As this truth became real,
[00:06:01] I asked his forgiveness for my failure
[00:06:03] to agree with him and his words.
[00:06:06] But God was not through.
[00:06:07] Again, he brought to my remembrance the scripture,
[00:06:10] Malachi 2, 17.
[00:06:12] You have wearied the Lord with your word.
[00:06:14] Yet you say,
[00:06:14] Wherein have we wearied thee, Lord?
[00:06:17] God put his finger on the ways I had wearied him with my words,
[00:06:21] expressing my worries and frustrations over and over.
[00:06:24] The words of bondage and condemnation had frequently I'd spoken.
[00:06:28] Again, it was time for a genuine repentance on my part.
[00:06:32] I sought and obtained mercy and forgiveness for wearing the Lord
[00:06:35] with words out of harmony with his word.
[00:06:39] Yet once more the Lord spoke to me,
[00:06:41] pinpointing the reason for my deplorable situation.
[00:06:44] Malachi 3, 13 was the verse this time.
[00:06:47] Your words have been stout against me,
[00:06:49] saith the Lord.
[00:06:50] Yet you say,
[00:06:51] What have we spoken so much against thee?
[00:06:54] I cried out in protest,
[00:06:55] Lord, I would never, never speak anything against you.
[00:06:59] Lord, I love you with all my heart.
[00:07:02] Lord, I would never, never speak against you.
[00:07:05] Tenderly, the Lord dealt with me.
[00:07:07] Your words have been stout,
[00:07:09] have been strong and defensive against me,
[00:07:11] in that your words have been out of harmony with my words.
[00:07:15] You have spoken words far below the standard of my word.
[00:07:18] You must discipline your lips to you,
[00:07:20] so your words have been in harmony with my words.
[00:07:23] As I meditated on this unusual encounter with the living God,
[00:07:28] I took out my diary
[00:07:29] and wrote down twelve affirmations of truth.
[00:07:32] I entitled these affirmations,
[00:07:34] My Never Again List.
[00:07:36] Here is what I wrote that day.
[00:07:39] And before you begin to listen to what I wrote,
[00:07:42] I want to say a simple prayer.
[00:07:46] Father, in the name of Jesus,
[00:07:49] you visited my life back there in 1961
[00:07:51] in such a profound manner.
[00:07:53] Father, I will always thank you
[00:07:55] for those encounters with you,
[00:07:58] how you led me into your word,
[00:08:00] and how you taught me vital truths.
[00:08:03] You really led me into
[00:08:05] a phase, a school of faith I'd never known before.
[00:08:09] And so, Father, as I share what you
[00:08:12] gave to me by your Holy Spirit
[00:08:13] and by your word that day,
[00:08:15] I do pray for every listening friend
[00:08:17] that they too will respond
[00:08:19] to what you led me to speak,
[00:08:21] that they will realize the importance
[00:08:23] of Amos 3.3,
[00:08:25] How can two walk together
[00:08:27] except they be agreed?
[00:08:29] Father, you taught me the principles
[00:08:31] of agreeing with you,
[00:08:33] of disagreeing with the wicked devil,
[00:08:35] and rising up to a new level of faith
[00:08:37] and victory that my life had never known.
[00:08:40] So, Father, I pray for every listening friend
[00:08:42] a day that they'll receive these truths
[00:08:45] with simplicity,
[00:08:47] with wholeheartedness,
[00:08:48] that you'll likewise minister to them,
[00:08:50] I ask in Jesus' name.
[00:08:52] Here's what I wrote that day.
[00:08:54] Number one,
[00:08:55] Never again will I confess I can't,
[00:08:58] for I can do all things
[00:09:00] through Christ who strengthens me.
[00:09:02] That's Philippians 4.13.
[00:09:04] Number two,
[00:09:06] Never again will I confess lack,
[00:09:08] for my God shall supply all my need
[00:09:10] according to His riches and glory
[00:09:12] with Christ Jesus.
[00:09:14] Philippians 4.19.
[00:09:16] Number three,
[00:09:17] Never again will I confess fear,
[00:09:19] for God hath not given me the spirit of fear,
[00:09:22] but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
[00:09:25] 2 Timothy 1.7.
[00:09:27] Number four,
[00:09:28] Never again will I confess doubt and lack of faith,
[00:09:31] for God has given to every man
[00:09:33] the measure of faith.
[00:09:34] Romans 12.3.
[00:09:36] Never again will I confess weakness,
[00:09:38] for the Lord is the strength of my life.
[00:09:41] Psalm 27.1.
[00:09:44] And the people that know their God
[00:09:46] shall be strong and do exploits.
[00:09:48] Daniel 11.32.
[00:09:50] Number six,
[00:09:52] Never again will I confess supremacy of Satan
[00:09:54] over my life,
[00:09:55] for greater is he that is in me
[00:09:58] than he that is in the world.
[00:10:00] 1 John 4.4.
[00:10:02] Number seven,
[00:10:04] Never again will I confess defeat,
[00:10:06] for God always causes me to triumph
[00:10:07] in Christ Jesus.
[00:10:09] 2 Corinthians 2.14.
[00:10:11] Number eight,
[00:10:13] Never again will I confess lack of wisdom,
[00:10:16] for Christ Jesus is made unto me
[00:10:18] wisdom from God.
[00:10:20] 1 Corinthians 1.30.
[00:10:22] Number nine,
[00:10:24] Never again will I confess the domination of sickness,
[00:10:27] for with his stripes I am healed.
[00:10:29] Isaiah 53.5.
[00:10:31] And Jesus himself took my infirmities
[00:10:34] and bare my sicknesses.
[00:10:36] Matthew 8.17.
[00:10:39] Number ten,
[00:10:40] Never again will I confess worries and frustrations,
[00:10:43] for I am casting all my cares upon him who cares for me.
[00:10:47] 1 Peter 5.7.
[00:10:49] In Christ I am carefree.
[00:10:52] Number eleven,
[00:10:54] Never again will I confess bondage,
[00:10:56] for where the Spirit of the Lord is,
[00:10:58] there is liberty.
[00:10:59] 2 Corinthians 3.17.
[00:11:01] My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
[00:11:05] Number twelve,
[00:11:06] Never again will I confess condemnation,
[00:11:09] for there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.
[00:11:14] I am in Christ,
[00:11:15] therefore I am free from condemnation.
[00:11:18] There I had it down on paper.
[00:11:20] I carried my diary as I paced around my room,
[00:11:24] repeating these affirmations aloud,
[00:11:26] several times that day and for the days that followed.
[00:11:29] I read this list aloud,
[00:11:31] allowing the truths to penetrate the shell of my negative spirit
[00:11:35] and began to root out those words which had disagreed with God's word.
[00:11:40] It was a real discipline because for so long I had wearied the Lord of my doubt vocabulary.
[00:11:48] That's the expression for it,
[00:11:49] my doubt vocabulary.
[00:11:51] But now instead of my words being defensive against God,
[00:11:55] I was pleasing him by speaking his own beautiful life-transforming truths.
[00:12:00] Jesus had declared in John 6.63,
[00:12:04] The words that I speak unto you,
[00:12:06] they are spirit and they are life.
[00:12:08] God has tied himself up to his word.
[00:12:11] He has been there all the time,
[00:12:13] watching over us in our circumstances,
[00:12:16] our dilemmas,
[00:12:17] and he has committed himself to confirm his word.
[00:12:20] The very scriptures he watches over,
[00:12:22] his word to perform it,
[00:12:24] Jeremiah 1.12 declares.
[00:12:26] When we honor him by speaking and living his word,
[00:12:29] he honors us by making the word good in our behalf.
[00:12:32] One of the most picturesque accounts of how God regards his word
[00:12:35] is shown in Isaiah chapter 55,
[00:12:38] verses 10 and 11.
[00:12:40] Listen to this carefully.
[00:12:41] For as the rain cometh down,
[00:12:43] and the snow from heaven,
[00:12:45] and returneth not thither,
[00:12:46] but watereth the earth,
[00:12:47] and maketh it bring forth in bud,
[00:12:49] that it may give seed to the sower,
[00:12:51] and bread to the eater,
[00:12:52] so shall my word be to go forth out of my mouth.
[00:12:56] It shall not return to me void,
[00:12:57] but it shall accomplish that which I please,
[00:13:00] and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I send it.
[00:13:03] I spoke the word each day in a renewed manner.
[00:13:06] As I spoke these twelve dynamic affirmations of divine truth,
[00:13:10] memorizing them,
[00:13:12] planting them firmly in my heart and mind,
[00:13:14] I began to experience amazing results.
[00:13:16] My faith was being built,
[00:13:18] and my attitude was changing drastically.
[00:13:21] God himself was watching over that word
[00:13:23] to confirm and to perform it.
[00:13:25] The whole tenor of that church crusade
[00:13:28] in Longview, Washington,
[00:13:29] was uplifted.
[00:13:31] Miracles of healing began to occur.
[00:13:33] The love offerings for my ministry began to increase.
[00:13:35] I felt as if I were floating on fleecy clouds of joy.
[00:13:40] I telephoned my wife back in Victoria,
[00:13:43] and I said,
[00:13:44] The Lord has visited me in an unusual way.
[00:13:47] He's doing grand things for me inside.
[00:13:49] I'm flowing in a new anointing.
[00:13:52] I've discovered why we're not getting our needs met,
[00:13:55] why we're putting up with those health problems
[00:13:58] for the children.
[00:13:59] I know I can hardly wait to get back to Victoria
[00:14:02] to share with you what the Lord has done for me.
[00:14:06] And that daily proclaiming of these twelve principles of faith
[00:14:09] had revolutionized my whole life.
[00:14:11] I was radiant in the Holy Spirit.
[00:14:14] As I drove back to my family some days later,
[00:14:17] I pondered the difference only days before.
[00:14:20] I had been terribly discouraged.
[00:14:22] Now I was soaring in faith.
[00:14:25] It was then that God led me back into the school of faith
[00:14:27] for more lessons and a deeper spiritual touch.
[00:14:31] He brought my attention to Romans 10.8.
[00:14:33] The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth and in thy heart.
[00:14:37] That is the word of faith which we preach.
[00:14:39] From this passage, I saw that faith has two elements,
[00:14:42] the word in the mouth and the word in the heart.
[00:14:45] Then in Romans 10, verses 9 and 10,
[00:14:48] he reminded me again that salvation is a heart and mouth experience,
[00:14:53] the believing heart and the confessing mouth.
[00:14:56] Listen to what it reads.
[00:14:57] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
[00:15:00] and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
[00:15:04] thou shalt be saved.
[00:15:05] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness,
[00:15:08] and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
[00:15:12] Because one believes in his heart that God raised Jesus from the dead,
[00:15:16] and confesses with his mouth that Jesus is the Lord,
[00:15:19] he is saved.
[00:15:20] So God showed me how this was the pattern for all his blessings
[00:15:24] to be obtained into our lives.
[00:15:27] And one more key verse he showed me from Romans 1,
[00:15:31] chapter 10, verse 17.
[00:15:35] So then faith cometh by hearing,
[00:15:37] and hearing by the word of God.
[00:15:39] I learned that this was the way my faith was to grow and develop,
[00:15:43] as faith cometh by hearing,
[00:15:45] and hearing by the word of God.
[00:15:48] As my ears heard and heard,
[00:15:51] my lips speak God's word.
[00:15:53] My faith would grow thereby.
[00:15:55] So I heard the word spoken by others also
[00:15:58] would accomplish and develop my faith.
[00:16:01] Eagerly I respond to these instructions in the school of faith
[00:16:05] by saying,
[00:16:06] Come on mouth, speak God's word.
[00:16:08] Listen ears, this will strengthen me and my faith.
[00:16:11] I followed this with the repetitions of the 12 golden affirmations
[00:16:16] of my never again list,
[00:16:18] which the Lord had given me.
[00:16:19] Each affirmation was good for a 10% build up in faith.
[00:16:23] So after quoting 12 affirmations,
[00:16:26] I was experiencing a faith overflow.
[00:16:29] 120% as it were.
[00:16:31] I was going over the top in the faith realm.
[00:16:34] This was good seed I'd planted,
[00:16:36] and already I was reaping a harvest of blessing.
[00:16:39] The Lord had shown me how faith functions,
[00:16:42] the word nigh me,
[00:16:43] in my mouth and in my heart.
[00:16:45] As my ears heard my lips speaking God's word,
[00:16:48] I was partaking of faith's food.
[00:16:50] Thereby my faith increased.
[00:16:52] As I drove up the Pacific Coast Highway,
[00:16:55] returning to my waiting family in Victoria,
[00:16:59] I had quite a time in the presence of God
[00:17:01] as He continued to teach me.
[00:17:04] After a while, I grew quiet in my spirit,
[00:17:06] waiting for God's next impartations of truth.
[00:17:10] I hungered after Him,
[00:17:11] and He didn't disappoint me.
[00:17:13] Glory to God!
[00:17:14] When we reach out to Him in faith,
[00:17:16] we can be assured of His holy touch,
[00:17:19] for He will not forsake us.
[00:17:20] My next lesson in the school of faith
[00:17:23] was from 2 Corinthians 4.13,
[00:17:25] where God taught me how to function
[00:17:27] in the spirit of faith.
[00:17:29] We having the same spirit of faith,
[00:17:31] according as is written,
[00:17:33] I believe,
[00:17:34] and therefore have I spoken.
[00:17:36] We also believe,
[00:17:37] and therefore do we speak.
[00:17:39] Another translation of that verse reads,
[00:17:42] It is written,
[00:17:43] I believe,
[00:17:44] therefore have I spoken.
[00:17:45] With the same spirit of faith,
[00:17:47] we also believe,
[00:17:48] and therefore do we speak.
[00:17:50] Paul declared,
[00:17:51] The spirit of faith is something we have.
[00:17:54] Then to spell out His operation,
[00:17:57] he quoted from the man David,
[00:17:58] in Psalm 116, verse 10,
[00:18:00] I believe,
[00:18:02] therefore have I spoken.
[00:18:03] Paul then responded,
[00:18:04] We also believe,
[00:18:06] and therefore speak.
[00:18:07] So let's ask him,
[00:18:09] Brother David,
[00:18:10] how does this spirit of faith operate?
[00:18:12] And David replies,
[00:18:14] I believe,
[00:18:15] therefore have I spoken.
[00:18:17] Now let's turn to Paul
[00:18:18] and ask him,
[00:18:19] Brother Paul,
[00:18:20] how does this spirit of faith work?
[00:18:23] Paul answers,
[00:18:24] We also believe,
[00:18:25] and therefore speak.
[00:18:27] And now let Don Gossett
[00:18:29] respond to that question.
[00:18:31] How do I operate
[00:18:33] in the spirit of faith?
[00:18:35] Simply by these two principles,
[00:18:38] I believe,
[00:18:39] therefore do I speak.
[00:18:41] The spirit of faith which we have
[00:18:43] has a twofold function.
[00:18:45] We believe,
[00:18:46] then we speak.
[00:18:47] The Lord asked me,
[00:18:48] Do you want to know
[00:18:49] how to release your faith?
[00:18:50] Do you want to turn your faith loose?
[00:18:53] But believe my word in your heart,
[00:18:54] then speak that word with your mouth.
[00:18:57] There's no such thing
[00:18:58] as believing without speaking.
[00:19:00] This is a dynamic of faith.
[00:19:02] Believe the word in your heart,
[00:19:03] then open up and speak
[00:19:04] that living word with your mouth.
[00:19:07] Once again,
[00:19:08] I quoted my never again list.
[00:19:10] Let me share with you again
[00:19:11] what I wrote that glorious day
[00:19:13] that changed my life forevermore.
[00:19:15] Never again will I confess I can't,
[00:19:18] for I can do all things
[00:19:19] through Christ who strengthens me.

[00:20:53] was flowing freely
[00:20:54] through my life.
[00:20:55] I believe these affirmations
[00:20:57] of truth.
[00:20:57] I dared to verbalize them
[00:20:59] with my mouth
[00:21:00] over and over.
[00:21:01] It was a new vocabulary
[00:21:03] for me.
[00:21:04] I had majored on speaking
[00:21:05] words of doubt,
[00:21:06] anxiety, fear,
[00:21:07] now that I was operating
[00:21:08] in the spirit of faith.
[00:21:10] I was speaking a new language,
[00:21:12] God's word.
[00:21:12] By the way,

[00:21:15] drive an automobile alone
[00:21:17] and still receive nourishment
[00:21:18] from the Bible,
[00:21:19] it was largely due
[00:21:20] to the required memorization
[00:21:22] of scriptures
[00:21:23] undertaken even back
[00:21:25] in my Bible school training.
[00:21:27] Thank God I was able
[00:21:29] to memorize hundreds
[00:21:30] and eventually thousands
[00:21:31] of verses of the word.
[00:21:33] And how glorious
[00:21:35] that has been.
[00:21:35] Well,
[00:21:36] now the Lord
[00:21:37] was not finished
[00:21:38] teaching me that day.
[00:21:39] There in the school of faith,
[00:21:41] he led me
[00:21:42] to the little book
[00:21:43] by Philemon,
[00:21:44] a book of only one chapter.
[00:21:46] Philemon,
[00:21:47] verse 6,
[00:21:48] was the faith lesson
[00:21:48] where the Lord taught me
[00:21:49] how my faith
[00:21:50] would always,
[00:21:51] always be effectual.
[00:21:53] That the communication
[00:21:54] of thy faith
[00:21:55] would become effectual
[00:21:56] by the acknowledging
[00:21:58] of every good thing
[00:21:59] which is in you
[00:21:59] in Christ Jesus.
[00:22:01] The Holy Spirit
[00:22:02] began to speak
[00:22:03] to my heart.
[00:22:04] He said,
[00:22:04] Have you wondered
[00:22:05] why your faith
[00:22:05] has often been
[00:22:07] ineffectual?
[00:22:08] He said,
[00:22:09] That is because
[00:22:09] you have acknowledged
[00:22:10] every bad thing
[00:22:11] about your life.
[00:22:12] You have talked
[00:22:12] about your weaknesses,
[00:22:14] your fears,
[00:22:14] your failures,
[00:22:15] your defeats.
[00:22:16] You have harbored
[00:22:17] a deep sense
[00:22:18] of unworthiness
[00:22:19] about your life.
[00:22:20] You have dwelt
[00:22:20] with a sense of guilt
[00:22:21] and questioned
[00:22:22] your acceptance
[00:22:23] with God.
[00:22:24] And then my great
[00:22:25] teacher said,
[00:22:26] If you want your faith
[00:22:27] to be effectual,
[00:22:28] that is to bring
[00:22:29] to you things
[00:22:30] promised in the word,
[00:22:31] you must discontinue
[00:22:33] speaking all the time
[00:22:34] about yourself
[00:22:35] and your inadequacies.
[00:22:36] You are not sufficient
[00:22:37] of yourself anyway.
[00:22:39] Your sufficiency
[00:22:39] is in me.
[00:22:41] You must discipline
[00:22:42] your lips
[00:22:42] to acknowledge
[00:22:43] every good thing
[00:22:44] that is in you
[00:22:44] in Christ Jesus.
[00:22:45] You have a great treasure
[00:22:47] in this earthen vessel.
[00:22:49] You must acknowledge
[00:22:50] every good thing
[00:22:51] in you
[00:22:51] in Christ Jesus.

[00:22:53] your own attainments,
[00:22:55] but what you have

[00:23:03] in my Christian life

[00:28:56] The speaking forth principle is so powerful and dynamic,
[00:28:59] and if you will learn to speak the word only,
[00:29:02] that's what Jesus said is the greatest manifestation of faith.
[00:29:05] In Matthew chapter 8, a centurion came to Jesus and said,
[00:29:09] Lord, my servant lieth at home, grievously tormented, sick of the palsy.
[00:29:14] Jesus, in loving compassion, said, I will come and heal him.
[00:29:17] The man said, No, Master, I am one who understands authority.
[00:29:21] You see, I have those men who are under me, and I say to this man, Go, and he goes.
[00:29:26] I say, This one, come, and he comes.
[00:29:28] And yet, Lord, I know you are the greatest authority of all,
[00:29:32] for if you will only speak the word, speak the word only, my servant will be healed.
[00:29:37] Jesus turned to his disciples and said,
[00:29:40] This is the greatest faith I have found in all Israel.
[00:29:43] What was great about it?
[00:29:44] Speak the word only.
[00:29:46] And the Bible goes on to say,
[00:29:48] Jesus said to the centurion,
[00:29:50] Go thy way, as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee.
[00:29:54] How did he believe?
[00:29:55] He believed speaking the word only would bring the miracle for his dying servant.
[00:30:01] And Jesus Christ is still the same, yesterday, today, and forever.
[00:30:05] So I want to help you to understand you've got to speak up.
[00:30:10] You've got to declare God's word.
[00:30:12] We've been instructed in so many scriptures in the Bible about the importance of our,
[00:30:16] the speaking forth principle,
[00:30:18] and the power of words,
[00:30:20] that death and life are in the power of the tongue.
[00:30:22] And I want to just give you this scripture from Hebrews 10, 23.
[00:30:27] Let us hold fast the confession of our faith without wavering,
[00:30:31] for he who is promised is faithful.
[00:30:34] God is the one who is promised.
[00:30:36] He's a faithful God.
[00:30:37] Our part is to hold fast our confession.
[00:30:40] As we hold fast to the confession of the word of God,
[00:30:43] we are to affirm constantly those things God has revealed to us.
[00:30:46] You ask Don, just what is confession?
[00:30:50] Is it merely when we admit the wrong things in our lives?
[00:30:54] No, the word confession in its positive meaning in the Bible
[00:30:58] means to say or affirm what God has said in his word about a certain thing.
[00:31:04] It's agreeing with God.
[00:31:05] It's saying the same thing the scriptures say.
[00:31:07] To hold fast our confession is to say what God has said over and over again
[00:31:12] unto the thing desired in our heart and promised in the word is fully manifested.
[00:31:18] There is no such thing as possession without confession.
[00:31:22] When we discover our rights in Christ given throughout the Bible,
[00:31:25] we are to affirm them constantly.
[00:31:27] We are to testify to them, witness to these tremendous Bible facts.
[00:31:31] The Apostle Paul said the communication of our faith would become effectual.
[00:31:36] That is, it would really work by our acknowledging every good thing
[00:31:39] which is in us in Christ Jesus.
[00:31:41] That's Philemon, verse 6.
[00:31:43] Therefore, our faith will only be effective as we confess with our mouth
[00:31:47] all the good things which are ours because we belong to Jesus Christ.
[00:31:52] David said in Psalm 107, 2,
[00:31:55] Let the redeemed Lord say so.
[00:31:57] And again in Psalm 70, verse 4,
[00:31:59] Let such as love thy salvation say continually,
[00:32:02] Let God be magnified.
[00:32:03] That's what we were to say.
[00:32:05] Let God be magnified.
[00:32:07] We know that in Jesus Christ we've been given salvation,
[00:32:09] not just for our souls, but for our bodies, for our health, our finances,
[00:32:14] our peace of mind, and our freedom from bondage and fear.
[00:32:19] Affirmations of these truths should ring forth from our lips constantly.
[00:32:22] We are to hold fast to them without wavering.
[00:32:25] The penalty for wavering in our confession is we deny ourselves God's promises
[00:32:29] in the performance of them.
[00:32:31] James, chapter 1, verses 6 and 7,
[00:32:34] But let him ask in faith nothing wavering.
[00:32:36] For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea, driven with the wind and tossed.
[00:32:41] For let not that man think he should receive anything of the Lord.
[00:32:45] We are to boldly say what God says.
[00:32:49] One day I was in Oregon in meetings,
[00:32:52] and there at Ocean Lake,
[00:32:54] I had taken my family out for a stroll on the beach of the beautiful Pacific Ocean.
[00:33:00] And while my children were at play,
[00:33:02] I opened my little New Testament,
[00:33:04] and I turned to Hebrews chapter 13.
[00:33:07] I began to read something that changed my life again.
[00:33:10] Here is a great lesson in the school of faith
[00:33:12] that influenced me in a powerful way.
[00:33:16] Because he has said,
[00:33:18] I will never leave thee nor forsake thee,
[00:33:20] we may boldly say,
[00:33:22] The Lord is my helper,
[00:33:23] and I shall not fear what man can do unto me.
[00:33:26] Now notice,
[00:33:27] it's all what God has said.
[00:33:29] Because he has said it,
[00:33:30] we may boldly say the same thing.
[00:33:33] So you must make God's word the standard for your life.
[00:33:36] Train yourself to say what he says.
[00:33:39] Bring your lips under subjection.
[00:33:41] Think before you speak.
[00:33:42] Say what God says.
[00:33:44] Don't contradict him in his word.
[00:33:46] God is in his word.
[00:33:47] When you confess that word,
[00:33:49] God performs it sooner than you can imagine.
[00:33:51] A revolution will take place in your life.
[00:33:53] You'll find that you're truly living the bold,
[00:33:55] abundant life set forth in God's word.
[00:33:58] I know this for certain because it's happened innumerable times
[00:34:01] in my own life and ministry.
[00:34:04] I've often been blessed as I remember how God undertook for us
[00:34:07] in a mission to Africa some years ago.
[00:34:09] We were down the last day before our departure,
[00:34:12] and we were still $1,700 short of the necessary funds for our air tickets.
[00:34:17] No matter what avenue I had pursued in obtaining the money,
[00:34:24] all of them remained steadfastly closed.
[00:34:26] But I knew that this was the time to hold fast to God's word,
[00:34:31] to hold my heart steady in expectation that God himself would minister to our needs.
[00:34:35] I quietly reaffirmed over and over in my heart and with my mouth
[00:34:40] what the word has promised in Philippians 4, 19.
[00:34:44] My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
[00:34:50] I made that personal in a fresh way to my life.
[00:34:54] And I looked up and said,
[00:34:56] My Father God, my wonderful Father God,
[00:34:59] you are my source.
[00:35:01] You are the supply of all of my need
[00:35:03] according to your own riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
[00:35:07] And I thank you, Father, for those riches.
[00:35:09] I thank you for your supply.
[00:35:11] I praise you, Father, for this truth.
[00:35:15] When I arrived at my office that day,
[00:35:17] my wife and I agreed together.
[00:35:19] We would really just trust the Lord only.
[00:35:22] That just as we had boldly preached to thousands of others to do,
[00:35:26] so we gathered our staff together,
[00:35:28] those very fine ladies who shared the Lord's work with us at that time,
[00:35:32] Edith and Connie and Marlene and others that were so encouraging.
[00:35:37] They all united with us and they joined hearts and hands
[00:35:41] as we presented the need for $1,700 to our Heavenly Father.
[00:35:46] Then we lifted up our hands and we praised the Lord in advance for this supply.
[00:35:50] We began to confess the word together
[00:35:53] and went on doing our normal duties of the day.
[00:35:56] And while I was gone from the office,
[00:35:58] a man from Burnaby called to tell us
[00:36:00] the Lord had laid upon his heart to provide $1,700 for our airline tickets.
[00:36:07] I mean, this had to be one of the most unusual
[00:36:09] and explicit miraculous interventions I had ever experienced.
[00:36:14] I've never experienced anything exactly quite like that
[00:36:17] when our need was $1,700
[00:36:20] and God spoke to a man,
[00:36:22] provide $1,700 for Don Gossett for this mission to Africa.
[00:36:27] The Lord used that man to minister.
[00:36:29] I'm so grateful for those people who can hear the voice of the Lord.
[00:36:34] I'm so thankful for those people who are yielded to the Holy Spirit
[00:36:37] that when God speaks to them,

[00:36:41] and not only hear his voice, but to obey his voice.
[00:36:44] Romans 8 says,
[00:36:45] For as many as are led by the Spirit of God,
[00:36:47] they're the sons of God.
[00:36:49] This man could hear the voice of the Lord say.
[00:36:52] You have Don Gossett, $1,700 for his mission to Africa.
[00:36:56] I mean, that's obedience, that's submission.
[00:37:00] The Lord says,
[00:37:01] My sheep know my voice, and a stranger they will not follow.
[00:37:04] This man could know the voice of the Good Shepherd.
[00:37:08] And he spoke to him,
[00:37:09] provide $1,700 for the mission to Africa.
[00:37:13] What a miraculous intervention.
[00:37:15] What a wonderful step of obedience on behalf of this man
[00:37:19] to minister the exact amount of money we needed.
[00:37:23] Now, we had employed the only resources we had at that moment,
[00:37:26] our faith in God.
[00:37:28] How was that faith functioned and expressed by our words
[00:37:31] of confession of God's supply?
[00:37:34] We believed in our hearts that our God was our supply.
[00:37:37] We spoke words of faith.
[00:37:39] We utilized words of prayer.
[00:37:41] We employed words of praise.
[00:37:43] And that confession of the word,
[00:37:44] and now we were seeing God's response.
[00:37:47] God's response by a tremendous miracle.
[00:37:51] Indeed, words spoken,
[00:37:52] harmony with God's word,
[00:37:53] work wonders.
[00:37:54] The Lord said long ago in Psalm 50, 23,
[00:37:58] Whoso offereth his praise glorifieth me,
[00:38:01] and to him that ordereth his conversation to write,
[00:38:03] will I show the salvation of God.
[00:38:06] We're not mere robots
[00:38:07] without a choice of the words we speak.
[00:38:09] While we want God to guide our conversation,
[00:38:11] to motivate our words,
[00:38:14] we still have the choice
[00:38:15] to order our conversation to write
[00:38:17] or to order our conversation wrongly.
[00:38:20] So God says,
[00:38:21] My child,
[00:38:22] if you choose to order your conversation to write,
[00:38:25] I will show you my salvation.
[00:38:28] I will show you my miraculous hand.
[00:38:31] I will show you my provision.
[00:38:33] And that salvation, I say,
[00:38:35] is in every area of our lives.
[00:38:38] I praise God for the truth of his word.
[00:38:41] I remember several years ago
[00:38:43] when I took a group of Christians to Israel
[00:38:46] where I served as the organizer of our group.
[00:38:50] As we left Jerusalem
[00:38:52] to journey through Sumeria and Galilee,
[00:38:54] I was suddenly stricken with a severe fever.
[00:38:57] Naturally, experiencing a high fever like that
[00:39:00] is quite a drain on your body's system.
[00:39:02] It actually makes you feel less than human.
[00:39:04] It was quite a battle for me.
[00:39:06] I knew that I shouldn't talk about it to my friends.
[00:39:09] They were dear ones,
[00:39:11] and I was leading them through Israel
[00:39:12] on a triumphant experience.
[00:39:14] And I knew that if I told them about the high fever
[00:39:17] and how I was feeling,
[00:39:18] I would certainly get their sympathy and pity,
[00:39:21] and they might even begin to feel sorry for me
[00:39:24] and cause me to feel sorry for myself,
[00:39:26] and that would not help me at all.
[00:39:28] So what I needed was a healing from God.
[00:39:30] So I was desiring to receive that healing
[00:39:35] and to know God would make it good.
[00:39:38] So I maintained my confession of His Word
[00:39:41] in the face of dire need.
[00:39:43] I was speaking the Word of the Lord.
[00:39:44] With His stripes I am healed.
[00:39:46] Now this is a Bible expression
[00:39:48] that I have employed a great deal,
[00:39:51] and I encourage others to employ it.
[00:39:53] That if we discipline our heart and our lips
[00:39:55] and continue to confess,
[00:39:56] with His stripes I am healed,
[00:39:59] I believe the Lord will do for you
[00:40:01] what He did for me way back there.
[00:40:04] Our tour bus had arrived in Nazareth,
[00:40:08] and it was there in Nazareth,
[00:40:10] the hometown of our Lord Jesus Christ,
[00:40:13] that He manifested a beautiful healing for me.
[00:40:16] Jesus of Nazareth became my personal healer
[00:40:19] of that fever that had raged in my body.
[00:40:22] Oh, how grateful I was for His love.
[00:40:24] I would like to say to you
[00:40:25] that need healing for your body,
[00:40:27] please discipline your lips.
[00:40:29] I mean, you've got to discipline your lips
[00:40:31] to hold fast to your confession of God's Word,
[00:40:34] speaking it often.
[00:40:36] With His stripes I am healed.
[00:40:38] That's the truth of God.
[00:40:40] Let God be true in every mental liar.
[00:40:42] Let the devil and all of his doubts
[00:40:45] go assail because God's Word prevails.
[00:40:47] Oh, it's so essential.
[00:40:48] We take the Lord's strength
[00:40:50] for any weakness we may have
[00:40:51] and confess that strength daily.
[00:40:54] I know every day,
[00:40:55] for many years now,
[00:40:57] I've made it my affirmation.
[00:40:58] While I say every day,
[00:40:59] most every day,
[00:41:01] I rise up and say,
[00:41:02] the Lord's the strength of my life.
[00:41:03] Whom shall I be afraid?
[00:41:05] The Lord's the strength of my head,
[00:41:07] my mind.
[00:41:07] So today I think sound, healthy thoughts.
[00:41:10] I think on those things that are true,
[00:41:12] honest, just, lovely, pure,
[00:41:13] but good report.
[00:41:14] A sound mind's a strong mind,
[00:41:16] and I have the mind of Christ.
[00:41:18] Then I say,
[00:41:20] the Lord's the strength of my ears,
[00:41:21] so I have good hearing for today.
[00:41:23] Seven times in Revelation 2 and 3,
[00:41:26] the command comes,
[00:41:27] He that hath an ear,
[00:41:28] let him hear what the Spirit saith.
[00:41:30] With my renewed, sound, strong mind,
[00:41:32] I hear what the Spirit saith unto me.
[00:41:35] Then I speak forth,
[00:41:37] the Lord's the strength of my eyes,
[00:41:38] so I have good vision for today.
[00:41:41] I see others through eyes of love,
[00:41:43] kindness, and goodwill.
[00:41:45] Then with a confidence in my heart,
[00:41:46] I say it.
[00:41:47] The Lord's the strength of my mouth,
[00:41:49] so I speak those words you're edifying,
[00:41:51] ministering grace to those who hear me.
[00:41:54] Isaiah 50, verse 4,
[00:41:55] The Lord God has given me the tongue of the learned,
[00:41:57] that I should know how to speak a word in season
[00:42:00] to him that is weary.
[00:42:01] He wakeneth morning by morning,
[00:42:03] he wakens mine ear to hear as the learned.
[00:42:06] I refrain from speaking those words
[00:42:08] that are negative, destructive,
[00:42:10] corrupt, critical, harsh, or unkind.
[00:42:12] The Lord's the strength of my heart,
[00:42:14] so I have a good, sound heartbeat for today.
[00:42:16] My prayer, Lord,
[00:42:17] be thou the strength of my physical heart,
[00:42:19] as long as I serve you on this earth.
[00:42:22] Yea, seventy years,
[00:42:23] and by reason of strength,
[00:42:25] eighty years or more.
[00:42:26] O heart, do your good work for this day.
[00:42:28] Then I reach up my hands up,
[00:42:30] and I say,
[00:42:31] The Lord's the strength of my hands,
[00:42:32] whatsoever my hands find you do,
[00:42:34] they do with all their might.
[00:42:36] I then speak,
[00:42:37] as I place my hand on my stomach.
[00:42:39] The Lord's the strength of every organ,
[00:42:41] tissue, bone, fiber, nerve, and cell in my body.

[00:42:46] from the top of my head to the soles of my feet.
[00:42:48] When my feet become tired, sore, aching,
[00:42:51] the Lord renews my feet
[00:42:52] by the invigoration of his strength.
[00:42:54] The Lord's the strength of my life,
[00:42:56] my whole life, spirit, soul, and body.
[00:42:58] He infuses strength into the hidden man of the heart.
[00:43:01] My affirmations every day.
[00:43:03] Daniel 11, 32.
[00:43:04] The people that know their God
[00:43:06] shall be strong and do exploits.
[00:43:08] Psalm 29, 11.
[00:43:09] The Lord will give strength into his people.
[00:43:11] The Lord will bless his people with peace.
[00:43:13] Philippians 4, 13.
[00:43:14] I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
[00:43:18] Nehemiah 8, 10.
[00:43:19] The joy of the Lord is my strength.
[00:43:21] Deuteronomy 33, 25.
[00:43:23] As my days are, so shall my strength be.
[00:43:26] 2 Corinthians 12, 10.
[00:43:28] When I am weak, then am I strong.
[00:43:30] So I affirm the Lord's strength of my life.
[00:43:34] From the top of my head
[00:43:35] to the soles of my feet,
[00:43:36] to my whole being, spirit, soul, and body indeed.
[00:43:40] Praise his name.
[00:43:41] This is how strength comes.
[00:43:43] It's to speak what his word says.
[00:43:46] In ourselves, we are aware of our weaknesses.
[00:43:49] Paul was aware of his own weakness.
[00:43:51] Yet he knew when he was weak,
[00:43:52] then he became strong in the Lord's own strength.
[00:43:55] We all know our weaknesses in life.
[00:43:57] Sometimes our weakness is in our conversation
[00:43:59] or some bad habit
[00:44:00] or an overindulgence in television
[00:44:03] or eating or some other thing
[00:44:04] that doesn't glorify God.
[00:44:06] Whatever our weaknesses are,
[00:44:08] the Lord knows how to minister strength.
[00:44:10] So let's confess his word.
[00:44:12] The Lord's a strength in my life.
[00:44:14] Let's speak forth.
[00:44:15] Joel 3, 10.
[00:44:16] Let the weak say I'm strong.
[00:44:17] Say it over and again.
[00:44:19] In Jesus, I'm strong.
[00:44:21] I am strong.
[00:44:22] I know if that sounds like a contradiction
[00:44:24] to your own natural thinking,
[00:44:26] well, consider that you're moving to a higher level
[00:44:28] where God's word prevails,
[00:44:30] not your own negative feelings and thoughts.
[00:44:33] The Christian life is often made up
[00:44:35] of a series of adversities and problems
[00:44:37] which God always gives us the grace to overcome.
[00:44:41] That's why God calls us to be overcomers,
[00:44:44] not those who go under.
[00:44:45] When we hold our hearts steady
[00:44:47] in praise and confessing the word,
[00:44:50] no matter what the circumstances,
[00:44:52] God will see us through.
[00:44:53] So I challenge you,
[00:44:55] don't talk sickness,
[00:44:56] rather speak the healing word.
[00:44:58] Don't talk weakness,
[00:44:59] rather affirm the Lord's strength is yours.
[00:45:01] Don't talk defeat,
[00:45:03] rather shout your victory in Jesus.
[00:45:06] Don't talk lack,
[00:45:07] rather confess his provision for your every need.
[00:45:10] Don't talk bondage,
[00:45:12] rather confess his freedom.
[00:45:13] With the mouth you make confession
[00:45:15] unto healing, deliverance,
[00:45:17] never spiritual and physical blessing
[00:45:19] provided for you in Christ Jesus.
[00:45:21] By your mouth you then overcome Satan,
[00:45:24] Revelation 12, 11.
[00:45:26] And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb
[00:45:28] and by the word of their testimony.
[00:45:31] I want to warn you that words can work blunders.
[00:45:34] I say words do work wonders,
[00:45:36] but they can also work blunders.
[00:45:38] Did you realize that you may be failing in life
[00:45:42] because you talk failure,
[00:45:44] you fear failure,
[00:45:45] you really believe in failure?
[00:45:47] What you say locates you.
[00:45:49] You will not,
[00:45:49] you cannot,
[00:45:50] rise above your own words.
[00:45:52] If you talk defeat,
[00:45:54] fear,
[00:45:54] failure,
[00:45:55] anxiety,
[00:45:56] sickness,
[00:45:56] unbelief,
[00:45:57] you'll live on that level.
[00:45:58] Neither you nor anyone else,
[00:46:00] no matter how clever,
[00:46:01] will ever live above the standard of your conversation.
[00:46:04] This spiritual principle is unalterable.
[00:46:07] If your conversation is foolish,
[00:46:09] trifling,
[00:46:10] impractical,
[00:46:10] or disorganized,
[00:46:12] your life is invariably the same way.
[00:46:14] With your words,
[00:46:15] you constantly paint a public picture
[00:46:17] of your inner self.
[00:46:19] Jesus said in Matthew 12, 34,
[00:46:21] out of the abundance of the heart,
[00:46:22] the mouth speaks.
[00:46:23] When you think back on your life,
[00:46:25] you'll probably agree that most of your troubles
[00:46:27] have been tongue troubles.
[00:46:30] The Bible says in Proverbs 21, 23,
[00:46:33] Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue
[00:46:35] keepeth his soul from troubles.
[00:46:37] Oh,
[00:46:38] the trouble caused by unruly tongues,
[00:46:40] words spoken in the heat of the moment,
[00:46:42] words of anger,
[00:46:43] words of harshness,
[00:46:45] words of retaliation,
[00:46:46] words of bitterness,
[00:46:47] words of unkindness.
[00:46:49] These words produce trouble for us.
[00:46:51] So beloved,
[00:46:52] let's make it our prayer right now.
[00:46:54] Psalm 19, 14,
[00:46:56] Let the words of my mouth
[00:46:57] and the meditation of my heart
[00:46:59] be acceptable in thy sight,
[00:47:01] O Lord,
[00:47:01] my strength and my redeemer.
[00:47:03] And here's another good Bible prayer.
[00:47:05] Psalm 141,
[00:47:06] verse 3,
[00:47:08] Set a watch,
[00:47:08] O Lord,
[00:47:09] before my mouth,
[00:47:10] keep the door of my lips.
[00:47:12] It's really important.
[00:47:13] We let God help us overcome
[00:47:14] our unruly speech habits
[00:47:16] for our words can work blunders
[00:47:18] and get us into much trouble.
[00:47:20] A negative confession
[00:47:22] precedes possession of wrong things.
[00:47:24] The Bible warns in Proverbs 6,
[00:47:26] 2,
[00:47:26] Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth.
[00:47:29] Thou art taken captive
[00:47:30] with the words of thy mouth.
[00:47:31] With the mouth,
[00:47:32] confession can be made
[00:47:34] not only to the good things
[00:47:35] God has promised us,
[00:47:36] but with the mouth,
[00:47:37] confession can be made
[00:47:38] unto sickness,
[00:47:39] defeat,
[00:47:40] bondage,
[00:47:40] weakness,
[00:47:41] lack,
[00:47:41] and failure.
[00:47:43] Refuse to have a bad confession.
[00:47:45] Refuse to have a negative confession.
[00:47:47] Repudiate a dual confession
[00:47:49] where you're saying in one moment,
[00:47:51] buy his stripes and healed,
[00:47:52] and the next moment you're saying,
[00:47:54] but the pain is still there.
[00:47:56] Your negative confession
[00:47:57] denies the healing scripture,
[00:47:59] and you go on in defeat.
[00:48:00] So let me suggest right now,
[00:48:03] you affirm these truths.
[00:48:05] That what I confess,
[00:48:06] I possess.
[00:48:07] I confess Jesus as my Lord.
[00:48:10] I possess salvation.
[00:48:11] I confess the Son has made me free.
[00:48:14] I possess absolute freedom.
[00:48:16] What I confess,
[00:48:18] I possess.
[00:48:19] I confess He will never leave me
[00:48:21] nor forsake me.
[00:48:22] I possess the presence of God
[00:48:25] each step I take.
[00:48:26] I confess by His stripes I'm healed.
[00:48:29] I possess healing for my body.
[00:48:31] For what I confess,
[00:48:32] I possess.
[00:48:33] I confess I am the redeemed of the Lord.
[00:48:36] I possess redemption benefits
[00:48:38] every day.
[00:48:39] I confess the righteous are bold as a lion.
[00:48:42] I possess lion-hearted boldness
[00:48:44] and spiritual warfare.
[00:48:46] What I confess,
[00:48:47] I possess.
[00:48:48] I confess the anointing of the Holy One
[00:48:51] abides within me.
[00:48:52] I possess yonk-destroying results
[00:48:55] by this anointing.
[00:48:56] I confess in the name of Jesus
[00:48:58] I can cast out devils.
[00:49:00] I possess dynamic deliverances
[00:49:02] as a devil master.
[00:49:04] What I confess,
[00:49:05] I possess.
[00:49:06] I confess I lay my hands
[00:49:08] on the sick and they shall recover.
[00:49:10] I possess positive healings
[00:49:13] for the oppressed.
[00:49:14] I confess I'm a branch
[00:49:15] of the living vine.
[00:49:17] I possess vine life
[00:49:19] wherever I go.
[00:49:20] What I confess,
[00:49:21] I possess.
[00:49:22] I confess I am
[00:49:24] the righteousness of God
[00:49:25] in Christ Jesus.
[00:49:27] I possess the ability
[00:49:28] to stand freely
[00:49:29] in God's holy presence
[00:49:30] and in Satan's presence
[00:49:32] and in Satan's presence
[00:49:32] as a victor.
[00:49:33] For what I confess,
[00:49:35] I possess.
[00:49:36] I confess I am a temple
[00:49:38] of the Holy Spirit.
[00:49:39] My body is a temple
[00:49:41] of the Holy Spirit
[00:49:42] and I possess God dwelling in me
[00:49:44] and walking in me.
[00:49:46] I confess my God
[00:49:48] shall supply all my need
[00:49:49] according to his own riches
[00:49:51] in glory by Christ Jesus.

[00:49:55] And that's my challenge
[00:49:57] to you in this school of faith
[00:49:58] to know the importance
[00:50:00] of harnessing your words
[00:50:02] to be in harmony
[00:50:03] with God's word,
[00:50:05] to say what God says
[00:50:06] and to agree with him.
[00:50:08] For God asks,
[00:50:09] how can two walk together
[00:50:10] except to be agreed?
[00:50:12] So in the form
[00:50:13] of a little power poem,
[00:50:15] I've learned to discipline
[00:50:17] my heart with these type of words.
[00:50:19] I see I am free
[00:50:20] in the liberty
[00:50:21] where Christ has made me free.
[00:50:23] A smile is my style
[00:50:25] for I rejoice
[00:50:26] that my name is written down
[00:50:27] in heaven.
[00:50:28] There is no room
[00:50:29] for gloom.
[00:50:30] I serve the Lord
[00:50:31] with gladness.
[00:50:32] God has not given me
[00:50:33] the spirit of fear
[00:50:34] for fear has no part
[00:50:36] in my heart.
[00:50:38] I am blessed
[00:50:39] with heaven's best.
[00:50:40] My Father has blessed me
[00:50:41] with all spiritual blessings.

[00:50:44] is his purity

[00:51:32] without confessing.

[00:51:35] is followed by
[00:51:36] your confession.
[00:51:37] So it's very important
[00:51:39] that you say
[00:51:40] what God says
[00:51:41] and let his word prevail.
[00:51:44] I am so delighted
[00:51:45] to be able to come
[00:51:46] into your life
[00:51:46] and share with you
[00:51:47] from what God has taught me
[00:51:48] through many years
[00:51:49] in the school of faith.
[00:51:50] I trust that you are ready
[00:51:52] to go to a higher level living.
[00:51:54] One of the great truths
[00:51:56] God brought to my heart
[00:51:57] in a time of just simple study
[00:51:59] was when I opened
[00:52:01] my New Testament
[00:52:02] to Hebrews chapter 13

[00:52:05] For he has said
[00:52:07] I will never leave thee
[00:52:08] nor forsake thee
[00:52:09] so we may boldly say
[00:52:11] the Lord is my helper
[00:52:12] and I shall not fear
[00:52:13] what man can do unto me.
[00:52:15] With those simple truths
[00:52:16] it's all because
[00:52:17] of what he has said
[00:52:18] that we may boldly say
[00:52:20] the same thing.
[00:52:21] So prepare your heart now
[00:52:23] to go on to a higher level
[00:52:24] living in the kingdom of God.
[00:52:26] Believe you are
[00:52:27] who God says you are.
[00:52:29] Believe you have
[00:52:29] what God says you have.
[00:52:31] Believe you can do
[00:52:32] what God says you can do.
[00:52:34] Learn to think that way.
[00:52:35] Talk that way.
[00:52:36] Act that way.
[00:52:37] Train yourself
[00:52:38] to live on this level
[00:52:39] of what is written
[00:52:40] in God's word about you.
[00:52:42] Don't permit your thoughts
[00:52:43] your words
[00:52:44] or your actions
[00:52:45] to contradict
[00:52:45] what God says about you.
[00:52:47] Although you may not
[00:52:48] master the secret
[00:52:50] of the positive confession
[00:52:51] of God's word
[00:52:52] in a day
[00:52:53] or even a week
[00:52:54] you'll learn it
[00:52:55] as you continue
[00:52:56] to walk in this truth
[00:52:57] faithfully.
[00:52:58] Now Jesus commanded
[00:52:59] in Mark 11 22
[00:53:01] have faith in God
[00:53:03] or literally
[00:53:03] have the God kind of faith.
[00:53:06] Then we're told
[00:53:07] that faith comes
[00:53:08] by hearing
[00:53:09] the word of God.
[00:53:10] After you hear the word
[00:53:11] then begin
[00:53:11] to possess
[00:53:14] your heart
[00:53:15] and mouth
[00:53:15] as Paul says
[00:53:16] the word
[00:53:17] is even nigh thee
[00:53:18] in thy mouth
[00:53:18] in thy heart.
[00:53:19] Romans 10 8
[00:53:20] So if you are
[00:53:22] without Christ
[00:53:23] as your Savior
[00:53:24] here are the simple steps
[00:53:26] you take to be saved.
[00:53:27] You're a sinner
[00:53:28] you then come
[00:53:29] to Christ
[00:53:30] to receive him
[00:53:31] because you believe
[00:53:32] the Lord Jesus Christ
[00:53:33] that God raised him
[00:53:34] from the dead
[00:53:35] and then you confess
[00:53:36] he's the Lord
[00:53:37] of your life
[00:53:38] unto salvation.
[00:53:39] And God fulfills
[00:53:41] his promises
[00:53:42] in the same way.
[00:53:43] Whatever your need is
[00:53:44] hear the promise
[00:53:45] that creates faith.
[00:53:47] Second
[00:53:47] believe that promise.
[00:53:49] Third
[00:53:49] you confess that promise
[00:53:50] you talk it.
[00:53:51] Your overflowing heart
[00:53:52] confesses the word
[00:53:53] of promise
[00:53:54] and gladness
[00:53:55] and assurance
[00:53:55] and then you
[00:53:57] act accordingly
[00:53:58] and God delights
[00:53:59] to make it good.
[00:54:00] So meditate on the word
[00:54:01] and all that it has
[00:54:02] to say
[00:54:03] for every aspect
[00:54:04] of your life.
[00:54:05] As the word
[00:54:05] becomes a part
[00:54:06] of your heart
[00:54:07] it will set you
[00:54:08] free from fear

[00:54:30] you can freely discover

[00:58:17] God will watch over that word to make it good.
[00:58:19] And there'll be a performance of what the Lord has said
[00:58:21] because he has said that he will he'll never leave you,
[00:58:25] that he'll be with you always.
[00:58:27] You can boldly say the same thing because he has said that he's redeemed you
[00:58:31] from every curse and every spirit of the evil one.
[00:58:36] You just boldly say the same thing because he has said you never need to be discontent.
[00:58:41] You boldly say the same thing because he has said you're never unworthy in Christ.
[00:58:45] You boldly say the same thing because he said he's never the author of any confusion in your life.
[00:58:51] You boldly say the same thing because he has said that sin will never have dominion
[00:58:56] over you, you boldly say the same thing. Because he has said you have no need for insecurity,
[00:59:02] you boldly say the same thing. Because he has said that you need never fail, you boldly say the same
[00:59:08] thing. Because he has said you never need to be in frustration, you boldly say the same thing.
[00:59:14] Because he has said you have no fear of the future, you boldly say the same thing. Because he has said

[00:59:28] We may boldly say the same thing.
[00:59:30] And God says about His own word,
[00:59:34] Ezekiel 12, verses 25 and 28,
[00:59:36] For I am the Lord, I will speak,
[00:59:38] and the word that I shall speak
[00:59:39] shall come to pass.
[00:59:40] The word which I have spoken
[00:59:41] shall be done, saith the Lord God.
[00:59:43] My friend, you can count on God's word
[00:59:45] being good.
[00:59:46] It cannot fail without God failing.
[00:59:48] The Lord has also said in Isaiah 55,
[00:59:51] So shall my word be to go forth
[00:59:53] out of my mouth.
[00:59:54] It shall not return to me void,
[00:59:56] but shall accomplish what I please
[00:59:57] and prosper in a thing
[00:59:58] whereto I send it.
[00:59:59] Now these are truths of the Bible
[01:00:01] that I want you to understand.
[01:00:03] So I'm going to give you more of God's word.
[01:00:06] He has sent forth His word
[01:00:07] to accomplish His purposes.
[01:00:09] Because He has said these things,
[01:00:11] we may boldly say them,
[01:00:13] knowing the Lord will accomplish
[01:00:14] the purpose of His word.

[01:00:16] And because He has said it,
[01:00:18] we can declare it confidently, boldly.
[01:00:21] Because He has said it.
[01:00:22] In 1 Kings 8, 56,
[01:00:24] He has said,
[01:00:25] There hath not failed one word
[01:00:27] of all His good promise,
[01:00:28] which He promised.
[01:00:29] So we can boldly say,
[01:00:31] God's for us.
[01:00:32] Isn't that a remarkable fact?
[01:00:34] God's for us.
[01:00:35] Because He has said,
[01:00:37] I am come that you might have life
[01:00:38] and have it more abundantly.
[01:00:40] We may boldly say,
[01:00:41] I have that abundant life in me now
[01:00:43] because I've received Jesus Christ
[01:00:45] as my Savior.
[01:00:46] Because He has said,
[01:00:47] If God be for us,
[01:00:49] who can be against us?
[01:00:50] We may boldly say,
[01:00:51] God is for me now
[01:00:52] and no one can succeed against me.
[01:00:55] Praise the Lord.
[01:00:56] Because He has said,
[01:00:58] Whosoever shall confess me before men,
[01:01:00] him will I confess
[01:01:01] before my Father in heaven.
[01:01:02] We may boldly say,
[01:01:04] Jesus is confessing me right now
[01:01:06] to the Father
[01:01:06] because I'm confessing Him before men.
[01:01:09] And because He has said,
[01:01:10] when the enemy shall come in like a flood,
[01:01:12] the Spirit of the Lord
[01:01:13] shall lift up a standard against him.
[01:01:15] We may boldly say,
[01:01:16] God's Spirit is raising
[01:01:17] a mighty standard of defense on my behalf
[01:01:20] at the very time
[01:01:21] the enemy is heaping the pressure on me.
[01:01:23] Praise the Lord.
[01:01:24] My case is His.
[01:01:26] Because He has said,
[01:01:27] Thy God whom thou service continually,
[01:01:29] He will deliver thee.
[01:01:30] We may boldly say,
[01:01:32] God is my deliverer in every case
[01:01:34] because I constantly serve Him.
[01:01:36] Because He has said,
[01:01:38] The Lord is nigh unto them
[01:01:39] that call upon Him in truth.
[01:01:40] We may boldly say,
[01:01:42] The Lord is near me now
[01:01:43] because I call upon Him in truth.
[01:01:46] Because He has said,
[01:01:47] The Lord is nigh thee.
[01:01:49] Thank God for that.
[01:01:50] And He has said,
[01:01:51] The Lord shall fight for you
[01:01:53] and you shall hold your peace.
[01:01:54] We may boldly say,
[01:01:56] I know God is fighting for me
[01:01:57] because I'm holding my peace.
[01:01:59] I have committed the battle into His hands.
[01:02:02] Because He has said,
[01:02:03] Thanks be unto God
[01:02:04] who always calls us to triumph in Christ Jesus.
[01:02:07] We can boldly say,
[01:02:09] Indeed, I am more than a conqueror
[01:02:11] through Christ who loves me.
[01:02:13] Because He has said,
[01:02:14] No good thing will He withhold from them
[01:02:16] that walk uprightly.
[01:02:17] We may boldly say,
[01:02:18] The Lord is withholding no good thing from me
[01:02:20] because I'm walking uprightly before Him.

[01:02:24] Because He has said,
[01:02:25] There is therefore now no condemnation

[01:02:51] and the Lord has taken me in.

[01:02:55] Because He has said,
[01:02:56] Commit thy way unto the Lord.
[01:02:58] Trust also in Him
[01:02:59] and He shall bring it to pass.
[01:03:00] We may boldly say,
[01:03:02] The Lord is working out
[01:03:03] every detail of my life
[01:03:04] because I've made a commitment
[01:03:06] of it all to Him
[01:03:07] and I am fully trusting Him.
[01:03:09] We've come to the subject of healing.
[01:03:10] This is a great need
[01:03:12] for many of you
[01:03:12] to whom I speak,
[01:03:13] the need for healing
[01:03:14] for your body.
[01:03:15] And I want to give
[01:03:16] the basis of this teaching
[01:03:18] in the school of faith
[01:03:19] right now again,
[01:03:20] Hebrews 13, 5 and 6.
[01:03:22] You may want to look
[01:03:23] in your own New Testament
[01:03:24] and read this passage.
[01:03:26] It simply reads,
[01:03:28] For He has said,
[01:03:29] I will never leave thee
[01:03:30] nor forsake thee,
[01:03:31] so that we may boldly say,
[01:03:33] The Lord is my helper

[01:03:49] because He has said,

[01:03:53] Because God has said it,
[01:03:55] we may boldly say
[01:03:56] the same thing.
[01:03:57] This is how faith functions.
[01:03:59] So now,
[01:03:59] on the subject of healing,
[01:04:01] because He has said,
[01:04:03] My beloved child,
[01:04:04] I really wish above all things
[01:04:06] that you may prosper
[01:04:06] and be in health,
[01:04:07] even as your soul prospers.
[01:04:09] We may boldly say,
[01:04:10] I have a right to prosper
[01:04:11] in health
[01:04:12] because I am prospering
[01:04:13] in my soul.
[01:04:15] Because He has said,
[01:04:17] Himself took our infirmities
[01:04:18] and bare our sicknesses.
[01:04:19] We may boldly say,
[01:04:20] I am free from sicknesses
[01:04:22] and disease
[01:04:22] because they were all
[01:04:24] carried by Jesus Christ
[01:04:25] for me.
[01:04:26] Hallelujah.
[01:04:28] Because He has said,
[01:04:29] He that raised up
[01:04:30] Christ from the dead
[01:04:30] shall also quicken
[01:04:31] your mortal bodies
[01:04:32] by His Spirit
[01:04:34] that dwelleth in you.
[01:04:35] We may boldly say,
[01:04:37] God is quickening
[01:04:38] my mortal body
[01:04:39] now by the very same Spirit
[01:04:42] that raised Jesus
[01:04:42] from the dead
[01:04:43] because His Spirit
[01:04:45] dwells in me.
[01:04:46] Thus I am free
[01:04:47] from weakness
[01:04:47] and sickness.
[01:04:49] Hallelujah.
[01:04:50] Because He has said,
[01:04:51] they shall lay hands
[01:04:52] on the sick
[01:04:53] and they shall recover.
[01:04:54] We may boldly say,
[01:04:56] when we lay hands
[01:04:56] on the sick,
[01:04:57] they are recovering
[01:04:58] because I am acting
[01:05:00] on His Word.
[01:05:01] Because He has said,
[01:05:02] You shall serve
[01:05:03] the Lord your God
[01:05:04] and He shall bless
[01:05:05] thy bread and thy water
[01:05:06] and I will take
[01:05:07] sickness away
[01:05:08] from the midst of thee.
[01:05:09] We may boldly say,
[01:05:11] Sickness is taken
[01:05:11] away from me.
[01:05:12] My bread and my water
[01:05:14] is blessed
[01:05:15] because I am serving
[01:05:16] the Lord my God.
[01:05:18] Because He has said,
[01:05:19] Unto you that fear
[01:05:20] my name
[01:05:20] shall the Son of Righteous
[01:05:21] arise
[01:05:22] with healing
[01:05:23] in His wings.
[01:05:24] We may boldly say,
[01:05:25] The Lord is arising
[01:05:27] with healing
[01:05:27] from me
[01:05:28] because I fear
[01:05:29] His name.
[01:05:30] Because He has said,
[01:05:31] He sent His Word
[01:05:33] and healed them.
[01:05:34] We may boldly say,
[01:05:35] Healing is mine now.
[01:05:37] The Lord is healing me
[01:05:38] through His Word
[01:05:39] because I have received
[01:05:40] His Word
[01:05:40] into my life.
[01:05:42] These are wonderful truths
[01:05:44] by which you
[01:05:44] can receive healing.
[01:05:46] Say what God says.
[01:05:48] Agree with His Word
[01:05:49] and God will make
[01:05:50] that word good.
[01:05:51] Now for you
[01:05:52] that desire
[01:05:53] answer to your prayers.
[01:05:54] Because God
[01:05:55] has said it,
[01:05:56] we may boldly say
[01:05:57] the same thing.
[01:05:58] Because He has said,
[01:06:00] Before they call,
[01:06:01] I will answer.
[01:06:01] And while they are yet speaking,
[01:06:02] I will hear.
[01:06:03] We may boldly say,
[01:06:05] The Lord is answering
[01:06:05] my prayer even now
[01:06:06] as I pray.
[01:06:07] In fact,
[01:06:08] He was already working
[01:06:09] on the answer
[01:06:09] before I prayed.

[01:06:12] Because He has said,
[01:06:14] Go thy way
[01:06:14] as thou hast believed,
[01:06:15] so be it done unto thee.
[01:06:17] We may boldly say,
[01:06:18] I can be on my way.
[01:06:20] I have prayed

[01:06:21] The answer will come
[01:06:22] just as I am expecting.

[01:06:46] Whatsoever you shall ask

[01:06:49] may be glorified
[01:06:50] in the Son.
[01:06:51] We may boldly say,
[01:06:53] The Father is being glorified
[01:06:54] in the Son
[01:06:55] because He is doing
[01:06:56] great things for me
[01:06:57] as I ask in His name.
[01:07:00] Because He has said,
[01:07:01] Delight thyself also
[01:07:02] in the Lord
[01:07:03] and He shall give thee
[01:07:04] the desires of thine heart.
[01:07:05] We may boldly say,
[01:07:06] The Lord is granting me
[01:07:08] the desires of my heart
[01:07:09] because I am delighting
[01:07:10] myself in Him.
[01:07:12] Because He has said,
[01:07:13] If you abide in me
[01:07:14] and my words abide in you,
[01:07:16] you shall ask what you will
[01:07:17] and shall be done unto you.
[01:07:19] We may boldly say,
[01:07:20] I am abiding in Christ.
[01:07:21] He is living in me
[01:07:22] and He is answering

[01:07:26] Ask and you shall receive,

[01:07:31] My joy is full

[01:07:37] do you desire

[01:07:39] believe you receive them
[01:07:40] and you shall have them.

[01:07:43] I shall have what I have prayed for
[01:07:45] because I have prayed for it
[01:07:46] and I believe it is mine even now.
[01:07:49] Because He has said,
[01:07:51] Everyone that asketh receiveth.

[01:07:53] I know I am receiving
[01:07:54] because I have asked.
[01:07:56] Everyone means no exceptions,
[01:07:57] it includes me.
[01:07:59] And oh, Father,
[01:08:01] I just pause to thank you

[01:08:03] and prayer answering God.

[01:08:08] when he said,
[01:08:09] O thou that hearest prayer

[01:08:15] that hears and answers prayer

[01:08:29] Receive that touch
[01:08:30] of the Lord,

[01:08:33] Receive it
[01:08:34] in Jesus' name

[01:08:41] is filled with fear
[01:08:44] and you talk fear
[01:08:45] and your fears increase.
[01:08:47] The amazing thing is
[01:08:49] that when you speak,
[01:08:50] those fears immediately grip you
[01:08:52] tighter than ever.
[01:08:53] To overcome this,
[01:08:55] fill your heart
[01:08:55] with the Word of God.
[01:08:56] Then when you are tempted
[01:08:57] to doubt,
[01:08:58] to make your lips speak His Word
[01:08:59] instead of your doubts,
[01:09:01] simply make a decision
[01:09:02] to have your lips voice
[01:09:04] the Word
[01:09:04] instead of your fears.
[01:09:06] You can do this
[01:09:08] through the Lord Jesus Christ
[01:09:09] who give you the strength.
[01:09:11] because He has said,
[01:09:13] Fear thou not,
[01:09:14] for I am with thee.
[01:09:15] Be not dismayed,
[01:09:15] for I am thy God.
[01:09:17] We may boldly say,
[01:09:18] I am no longer afraid
[01:09:19] because God is with me
[01:09:20] all the time.
[01:09:22] Because He has said,
[01:09:23] God has not given us
[01:09:24] a spirit of fear,
[01:09:25] but of power,

[01:09:26] and a sound mind.

[01:09:30] I am free from all fear
[01:09:31] because my God
[01:09:32] has not given me fear,
[01:09:34] but power, love,
[01:09:35] and a sound mind.
[01:09:37] Because He has said,
[01:09:38] My peace I give unto you.
[01:09:39] Let not your heart be troubled.

[01:09:43] being justified by faith,
[01:09:44] we have peace with God
[01:09:45] through our Lord Jesus Christ.

[01:09:49] and therefore our heart

[01:09:54] I will keep Him in perfect peace,

[01:10:00] I have His perfect peace

[01:10:06] that are bound by evil habits,
[01:10:10] bondages,
[01:10:10] defeat,
[01:10:11] sickness,
[01:10:11] weakness.
[01:10:12] You have a wrong confession
[01:10:15] or a bad confession.
[01:10:16] A wrong confession
[01:10:18] is giving place to Satan.
[01:10:19] You must stop talking
[01:10:21] your defeat,
[01:10:21] your sickness,
[01:10:22] your weakness.
[01:10:23] Defeat is of the devil.
[01:10:24] Weakness is of the devil.

[01:11:04] of the devil's evil snares.
[01:11:06] The Lord delivers me.

[01:11:09] The angel of the Lord

[01:11:12] and delivereth them.
[01:11:14] We may boldly say,
[01:11:15] The Lord's angel
[01:11:16] makes camp around me
[01:11:17] to deliver me
[01:11:18] and to protect me
[01:11:20] because I do fear the Lord.

[01:11:23] many scripture verses
[01:11:24] I've given you.
[01:11:26] So I challenge you
[01:11:27] to practice agreeing with God.
[01:11:29] Accept what He says
[01:11:29] for your own victorious,
[01:11:31] bold Christian walk
[01:11:33] because you are
[01:11:34] who God says you are.
[01:11:35] Believe you can do
[01:11:36] what He says you can do.
[01:11:38] Believe God is what He says He is
[01:11:40] and He will do
[01:11:41] and He's doing
[01:11:41] what He says in His word.
[01:11:43] So think of yourself
[01:11:44] like God thinks of you.
[01:11:45] Remember that
[01:11:46] because He has said,
[01:11:47] We may boldly say,
[01:11:49] and you can have the joy
[01:11:51] of walking
[01:11:51] in a victorious,
[01:11:53] triumphant Christian walk.
[01:11:54] This is my challenge to you
[01:11:56] to know the reality
[01:11:58] of this wonderful truth.
[01:12:00] Now in a very practical way,
[01:12:02] I want to show you
[01:12:03] a testimony of a lady
[01:12:05] named Mrs. Allison.
[01:12:07] Here was a tremendous experience
[01:12:09] in the school of faith
[01:12:10] that I want to relate to you.
[01:12:12] One of my jobs
[01:12:13] as a minister, I believe,
[01:12:15] is to pray for the sick.
[01:12:16] For James chapter 5 reads,
[01:12:18] Is any sick among you,
[01:12:20] let him call for the elders
[01:12:21] of the church
[01:12:21] and let them pray over them,
[01:12:23] anointing him with oil
[01:12:24] in the name of the Lord.
[01:12:25] And the prayer of faith
[01:12:26] shall save the sick
[01:12:27] and the Lord shall raise him up.
[01:12:28] And if he has committed sins,
[01:12:30] they shall be forgiven him.
[01:12:32] Inspire the fact, however,
[01:12:33] that the Bible promises
[01:12:34] healing for the sick.
[01:12:36] There was one woman
[01:12:37] among many others,
[01:12:39] but this happened
[01:12:40] in one phase of my ministry
[01:12:41] and this particular lady
[01:12:43] laid a heavy burden
[01:12:45] in my heart
[01:12:45] for she was suffering.
[01:12:47] She was suffering
[01:12:48] and my heart was moved
[01:12:49] with deep compassion for her.
[01:12:50] What was her problem?
[01:12:52] She had an extreme case
[01:12:54] of long-standing asthma.
[01:12:56] I had had to pray for her
[01:12:58] many times
[01:12:58] and each time
[01:12:59] she seemed no better.
[01:13:01] She approached me one day
[01:13:02] to tell me afresh
[01:13:03] about her troubles.
[01:13:05] She was deeply sincere,
[01:13:07] but she was so discouraged
[01:13:08] to the point
[01:13:08] that she could not even
[01:13:09] talk to me without crying.
[01:13:11] And she said,
[01:13:12] Brother Don Gossett,
[01:13:13] I don't understand
[01:13:14] why I can't receive
[01:13:15] my healing.
[01:13:16] I know of other people
[01:13:17] for whom you have prayed.
[01:13:18] People have suffered from asthma
[01:13:20] and they have been healed.
[01:13:21] If it is true,
[01:13:22] God has no respecter persons.
[01:13:24] Why doesn't he heal me?
[01:13:26] I answered,
[01:13:27] You know, dear,
[01:13:27] I don't know why
[01:13:28] you have not received
[01:13:29] your healing,
[01:13:29] but go ahead
[01:13:30] and tell me all about yourself.
[01:13:32] So immediately,
[01:13:33] she began to pour out her heart.
[01:13:34] She told me about her illness
[01:13:36] and the fact
[01:13:37] that she seemed unable
[01:13:39] to receive healing.
[01:13:40] She said,
[01:13:41] I've had this asthma
[01:13:42] for many years,
[01:13:43] but I can't be healed of it.
[01:13:45] I've been prayed
[01:13:45] for many times.
[01:13:46] Others besides you
[01:13:47] have prayed,
[01:13:48] but I just can't get healed.
[01:13:50] Some nights I've had
[01:13:51] such a smothering attack
[01:13:52] of this asthma
[01:13:52] that I think
[01:13:53] I shall never be able
[01:13:54] to draw one more breath.
[01:13:56] The next day,
[01:13:57] after such an attack,
[01:13:58] I can't even get out of bed.
[01:13:59] Other times,
[01:14:00] I'm all right
[01:14:01] at the beginning of the day,
[01:14:02] but by noon,
[01:14:03] the asthma will have
[01:14:04] started up again
[01:14:04] and I simply can't do anything.
[01:14:06] I work in an office,
[01:14:08] but in many days,
[01:14:09] I can't even finish
[01:14:10] my day's work
[01:14:10] because of my heart
[01:14:12] breathing and wheezing.
[01:14:13] Oh, I've prayed,
[01:14:14] I've fasted,
[01:14:15] I've searched my heart.
[01:14:16] Why can I receive
[01:14:18] my healing?
[01:14:20] I looked down
[01:14:20] at that woman.
[01:14:21] Everything about her
[01:14:22] showed her sincerity.
[01:14:23] She was obviously
[01:14:24] very earnest
[01:14:25] about seeking
[01:14:25] to receive healing
[01:14:27] from the Lord.
[01:14:28] And I said to her,
[01:14:30] Mrs. Ellison,
[01:14:30] I want to help you
[01:14:31] and I believe
[01:14:32] that Jesus wants
[01:14:33] to heal you,
[01:14:34] but there's something
[01:14:34] you must overcome,
[01:14:35] something perhaps
[01:14:37] just as serious
[01:14:37] as this asthma
[01:14:38] before you can be healed
[01:14:40] of this condition.
[01:14:41] I could tell
[01:14:42] by her puzzled expression
[01:14:43] she seemed to be saying,
[01:14:45] but I don't understand
[01:14:46] what you're talking about.
[01:14:47] I've tried everything.
[01:14:49] I didn't even wait
[01:14:50] for her to put
[01:14:50] that question into words.
[01:14:51] I spoke directly
[01:14:52] to her and to her problem.
[01:14:54] I simply said,
[01:14:55] if I can point out
[01:14:56] something to you,
[01:14:57] would you have
[01:14:58] an open heart
[01:14:58] to receive it?
[01:14:59] I feel it's very important
[01:15:01] what I want to share
[01:15:01] with you
[01:15:02] and can I be perfectly honest
[01:15:04] and give it to you straight?
[01:15:05] You know how much
[01:15:06] I want to help you.
[01:15:07] Will you take it from me
[01:15:09] knowing I'm only
[01:15:10] the Lord's servant?
[01:15:11] Without a moment's hesitation
[01:15:12] she replied,
[01:15:13] Oh, Brother Gossett,
[01:15:14] yes, I've come to you
[01:15:15] for the truth
[01:15:16] and I want you
[01:15:17] to tell me the truth.
[01:15:18] Help me in any way
[01:15:18] you can.
[01:15:19] If the Lord shows you
[01:15:20] anything about my life
[01:15:22] that's not as it should be,
[01:15:23] I want you to tell me.
[01:15:25] You won't hurt my feelings.
[01:15:26] Please tell me.
[01:15:28] Quietly and slowly
[01:15:29] I explained to her,
[01:15:30] it is true
[01:15:31] you do have
[01:15:31] a serious case of asthma.
[01:15:34] But what I was referring to,
[01:15:35] something that's just as serious
[01:15:37] if not more serious
[01:15:38] than the asthma,
[01:15:39] is your negative attitude.
[01:15:41] You have as a bad case
[01:15:42] of I can't,
[01:15:43] I-dis as I've ever witnessed.
[01:15:45] I've been listening to you,
[01:15:46] Mrs. Ellison,
[01:15:47] and no fewer than a dozen times
[01:15:49] you have said,
[01:15:50] I can't.
[01:15:51] I can't be healed.
[01:15:53] I can't get my breath.
[01:15:54] I can't get out of bed
[01:15:55] in the morning.
[01:15:56] I can't continue in the day.
[01:15:58] I can't stay at the office.
[01:15:59] Your life seems to be made up of
[01:16:01] I can't do this
[01:16:03] and I can't do that.
[01:16:04] Now,
[01:16:05] nowhere in the Bible
[01:16:06] does God describe you
[01:16:08] as an I canter.
[01:16:10] But somehow
[01:16:11] you have taken on
[01:16:11] this melody
[01:16:12] of I can't-itis.
[01:16:14] Before you can expect
[01:16:15] any improvement
[01:16:16] in your life,
[01:16:17] any healing,
[01:16:18] you just must change
[01:16:19] that I can't
[01:16:20] to I can.
[01:16:22] Until you do that,
[01:16:23] God cannot move
[01:16:24] to help you
[01:16:25] as He wishes to do.

[01:16:28] the entire time
[01:16:29] I'd been talking to her,
[01:16:30] Mrs. Ellison
[01:16:31] had been crying.
[01:16:33] As moved as I was
[01:16:34] about her trouble
[01:16:35] and her emotional condition,
[01:16:36] I knew that I must continue
[01:16:38] if I were to help her
[01:16:39] to open the door to God
[01:16:41] and to His grace and power.

[01:16:44] and still crying,
[01:16:45] she asked through the tears,

[01:16:54] and asked her to read
[01:16:55] what it said.

[01:16:57] with a determination
[01:16:58] I had not heard
[01:16:58] in a long time,
[01:17:00] she said,
[01:17:01] I can do all things
[01:17:02] through Christ
[01:17:02] who strengthens me.
[01:17:04] I said,
[01:17:05] now that's the secret.
[01:17:06] Instead of saying
[01:17:07] I can't receive healing,
[01:17:08] begin to affirm
[01:17:09] through Christ
[01:17:10] who strengthens me
[01:17:11] I can do all things.
[01:17:13] I can receive my healing.
[01:17:14] I can be made
[01:17:15] completely whole
[01:17:16] through Christ
[01:17:16] who is my strength
[01:17:18] and my healer.
[01:17:18] By His stripes I'm healed.
[01:17:20] It was not
[01:17:21] an instant recovery.
[01:17:22] Mrs. Ellison
[01:17:23] had practiced
[01:17:23] I can't for so long.
[01:17:25] They required
[01:17:25] real discipline
[01:17:26] for her
[01:17:27] to train
[01:17:28] her unruly lips
[01:17:28] to speak God's word.

[01:18:17] do not always get
[01:18:19] instant recoveries
[01:18:20] but the point is
[01:18:21] she got healed.
[01:18:22] Not only did Mrs. Ellison
[01:18:24] own her healing
[01:18:24] in the sense
[01:18:25] that she had
[01:18:26] God's written word
[01:18:27] but that with his stripes
[01:18:29] we are healed.
[01:18:30] But in time
[01:18:31] she also took possession
[01:18:32] of her healing
[01:18:33] and that she no longer
[01:18:35] had to believe
[01:18:35] for a healing
[01:18:36] because she could feel

[01:19:29] from all over
[01:19:30] the United Kingdom

[01:19:31] throughout Europe
[01:19:32] they usually would have

[01:21:25] acting strangely
[01:21:26] for weeks now
[01:21:27] so quickly
[01:21:28] I looked through
[01:21:29] the other bedrooms
[01:21:30] in my home
[01:21:30] I looked through
[01:21:31] the bathrooms
[01:21:32] I went down
[01:21:33] to the basement
[01:21:34] to see if she'd
[01:21:35] gone down there
[01:21:35] for some reason
[01:21:36] but my dear
[01:21:38] wife was nowhere
[01:21:39] in that house
[01:21:40] all my heart sank
[01:21:41] and I reflected
[01:21:43] how she'd been sick
[01:21:44] and the past few
[01:21:45] months she'd seemed
[01:21:46] to be suffering
[01:21:46] mentally more
[01:21:47] than anything else
[01:21:48] she had literally
[01:21:50] been withdrawing
[01:21:51] from life
[01:21:51] and though I'd
[01:21:52] prayed much for her
[01:21:53] she grew worse
[01:21:54] steadily
[01:21:55] nothing I said
[01:21:56] or did
[01:21:56] seemed to have
[01:21:57] any effect on her
[01:21:58] I ran into
[01:22:00] the bedroom
[01:22:00] and quickly pulled
[01:22:01] onto my clothes
[01:22:02] and got in
[01:22:03] my shoes
[01:22:04] I grabbed a coat
[01:22:05] and started to go
[01:22:06] out the front door
[01:22:07] all during that time
[01:22:09] I was pleading
[01:22:10] with God
[01:22:10] God please
[01:22:12] let her be alright
[01:22:13] please don't let
[01:22:14] her get hurt
[01:22:15] tonight Lord
[01:22:15] when I opened
[01:22:17] the door
[01:22:17] to go out
[01:22:18] there she was
[01:22:19] standing
[01:22:20] wet
[01:22:20] wild eyed
[01:22:22] with her hair
[01:22:22] straining down
[01:22:23] over her face
[01:22:24] she'd been out
[01:22:25] in the rain
[01:22:25] and only her
[01:22:27] nightgown
[01:22:27] her slippers
[01:22:28] which were
[01:22:29] now mud soaked
[01:22:30] as I reached out
[01:22:31] for her
[01:22:32] and drew her to me
[01:22:33] trying to keep
[01:22:33] my anxiety
[01:22:34] out of my voice
[01:22:36] I questioned her
[01:22:37] I said
[01:22:37] where have you been
[01:22:38] I've been so worried
[01:22:40] she said
[01:22:40] I just went for a walk
[01:22:41] in the woods
[01:22:42] I didn't feel sleepy
[01:22:43] and I thought
[01:22:44] it might do me
[01:22:45] good to get out
[01:22:46] and walk
[01:22:47] when she had never
[01:22:48] done anything
[01:22:49] like this
[01:22:49] so dangerous
[01:22:50] before
[01:22:51] and from the natural
[01:22:52] or I should say
[01:22:53] the unnatural
[01:22:54] expression in her eyes
[01:22:55] and from her
[01:22:56] complete lack
[01:22:57] of awareness
[01:22:58] of the seriousness
[01:22:58] of what she had
[01:22:59] just done
[01:23:00] I was afraid
[01:23:01] she was near
[01:23:02] the breaking point
[01:23:03] she seemed close
[01:23:04] to some kind
[01:23:04] of collapse
[01:23:05] I put my arm
[01:23:06] around her
[01:23:07] and I took her
[01:23:08] back in the bedroom
[01:23:09] I stayed with her
[01:23:10] until she had put
[01:23:11] on dry clothing
[01:23:12] and was back in bed
[01:23:13] when I felt
[01:23:14] she'd gone to sleep
[01:23:15] I got up
[01:23:16] I couldn't sleep
[01:23:17] I couldn't even
[01:23:18] sit still
[01:23:19] countless questions
[01:23:20] ran through my mind
[01:23:22] what will happen
[01:23:22] to her next
[01:23:23] what will she do
[01:23:25] next
[01:23:25] is there no answer
[01:23:26] something has
[01:23:28] to be done
[01:23:28] but what
[01:23:29] I've been asking
[01:23:30] God for those
[01:23:32] months to help her
[01:23:33] I cried out
[01:23:34] so many times
[01:23:34] heal her
[01:23:35] dear God

[01:23:36] heal her

[01:23:37] do it in Jesus name
[01:23:39] I prayed over
[01:23:40] and over
[01:23:41] for recovery
[01:23:42] suddenly
[01:23:43] I recalled

[01:23:45] Luke 10 19
[01:23:46] where Jesus said
[01:23:47] behold
[01:23:47] I give you power
[01:23:49] over all the power
[01:23:51] of the enemy
[01:23:52] I realized
[01:23:53] now suddenly
[01:23:54] that
[01:23:54] it was not
[01:23:55] a matter
[01:23:56] of continually
[01:23:56] beseeching God
[01:23:57] and asking him
[01:23:58] to do it
[01:23:59] he was wanting
[01:24:00] me to rise up

[01:24:02] to be a man

[01:24:05] so I knew
[01:24:06] that this was

[01:24:10] a different approach
[01:24:11] than I'd been
[01:24:12] exercising
[01:24:13] toward my problem
[01:24:15] I had somehow
[01:24:16] exhausted
[01:24:16] it seemed
[01:24:17] my own power
[01:24:18] by continually
[01:24:19] asking him
[01:24:20] but now he was
[01:24:20] telling me
[01:24:21] to consider
