Many believers fall into one of two extremes. Some treat God casually, as though He exists mainly to help them achieve personal goals. Others live under tormenting fear, seeing God as cruel, distant, or ready to destroy them for every mistake. The biblical fear of the Lord is neither casualness nor panic. It is holy reverence, humility, awe, love, obedience, and surrendered trust before God.
